Another one I'd recommend is, if you are using an outfit, use a mod that changes super sonic to that outfit, and if you are using soap shoes you can use sa2 quills + soap shoes if you like instead of just soap shoes

a really good mod is "less 2d in chaos" which basically takes off the 2d camera restriction in most obstacles challenges in chaos island which helps out a lot especially when you are running around the island and accidentally trigger the camera to follow the obstacle course which is very annoying. hope this helps.

What I find funny about the well made momentum mods for this game isn't the fact that it feels right at home with Frontiers, but it makes me think of how Sonic Team specifically made action style and high speed style to accommodate both newcomers and Sonic fans. Only for everyone to go for High Speed Style because Action Style was just a slower, less fun version of the game. Imagine if instead, vanilla high speed style was Frontiers' "Action Style", with the momentum additions being "High Speed Style". There would be an actual reason to differentiate the two, and go for one over the other.

my personal favorite mod for combat is the hedgehog may cry mod. it makes the enemies actually somewhat challenging, massively speeds up your attacks, reworks a few attacks, and fixes the parry. it also has some physics tweaks that are pretty much the same as the beatz' ones. edit: apparently combat dx has a hedgehog may cry version

As FrontiersModel, I respect you for prefer longer quills. Is absolutely crazy how modders made this game insanely better with tiny changes with a short period of time. Forces needed LOTS of changes to make it at least decent, but with Frontiers, these mods made it even better with amazing results, is just so cool.

Hey dude. Cool to see these mods in the video. About the model though, I think the Frontiers model isn't that bad. For me (and I assume a lot of other people), it feels like a better Forces model. It does share similarities to Classic Sonic, but I think this was made because Sonic Team thought some things that were part of Classic Sonic worked and wanted to try implementing it into Modern Sonic. Yeah, it has that fighting stance, but it was probably kept that way so you can see more of his body at different camera angles and therefore look good in multiple camera angles. I also heard about changing the middle quill higher so that at a 2D section or when he faces left or right, there only 3 quills showing, maintaing that iconic Sonic symbol of Sonic's head with just 3 quills. I also heard that the quills were shortened so it was easier to animate the model, and the blue is lighter to accomodate for the lighting engine, which I also think is good. Basically, the Forces/Frontiers model is a "ease of use" model, if you know what I mean. Also, I don't really see much difference between the Unleashed/Colors/Generations model and the Lost World/Forces/Frontiers model, aside from the stance, shorter quills, and a lighter blue. Other than those three things, the current model doesn't feel like a huge change. Just a slight tweak that Sonic Team thought would make Modern Sonic better. Whether these changes work is subjective and up for debate, I know, but personally, I'd say yes, the chanhes are fine. In terms of the animations, yes, the previous models did them better, but it's nothing I lose sleep over. It's just something I don't care about that much. I'm the biggest fan of Generations' model, but I understand the love for previous and later models, and your preference on Unleashed's model, so you do you. Also, from what I've seen, mods have gone crazy, from slight tweaks to major reworks. I can only imagine what'll come later in the game's life. If Generations is anything to go by, it'll be as big, if not bigger, than Generations' modding support.

I'm personally not a fan of the tweaks they made to modern's design, why should they try and incorporate more of classic Sonic? I think they're better trying to emulate Uekawa's current Sonic style, hence the lighter blue. shorter quills and the middle quill being moved up. They could've executed it much better, rather than have his middle quill clip through his top quill they could move the top quill up so that it looks balanced. Overall I think we need a new model for Sonic going forward because I'm kinda sick of it since it's been here since Shadow.

I think the Combat DX mod was created with the intent for it to be like DMC. The one issue is that, in DMC you can take on actual hordes of enemies all at once with the same combo; in Sonic Frontiers, you can really only target one at a time.

Excellent video buddy, I’m definitely going to get that momentum mod. Unfortunately I played the game on PC with no mods and I was devastated by how awful the physics were. I’m a sonic and knuckles man and I loved jumping when running up hills and using the momentum to propel my height upwards. I can’t wait to play frontiers again with your suggested mods. All it needs now is a Co Op mod so we can get two people as sonic and tails!

I love MJ767's Cyberspace Mission Rebalance mod. It makes ring and S rank requirements harder in cyberspace but not too ridiculous to where it requires insane magnet dashing. 'cuz gosh darn, those requirements in vanilla were stupid easy.

Here is a pitch for a more crazy mod: In half of the cutscenes when talking to a character (mainky Amy, Knuckles, Tails, and Sage) they just stand there with some animation which also applies to Sonic. The idea is to give animations for the characters to not make them feel as if minimum effort has been put in.

I do agree with you on Rhea Island, the developers did a beautiful work making that Island, I really believe that the DLC Story with the other playable characters is going to take place on Rhea since Amy, Knuckles & Tails escaped Cyberspace at that point.

10:15 I have a feeling it WAS meant to be played this way - and my reasoning is because of the select slopes that DO allow "slope jumping". After much experimenting I've started to notice it isn't a lack of momentum when jumping up inclines, but rather there's a limiter set so you're going "too fast" the game refuses to let you pass a set distance on the Y axis. This is especially frequent slopes near gaps or open areas. Inclines next to walls seem to ignore this (notably in Ares Island). On Kronos near the starting area I could gain more height as long as I wasn't boosting, though the extra height wasn't helpful - but when I attempted to boost to get useful gains, I noticed that i reached the apex of my jump quicker, but the height of the jump was even lower than when I wasn't boosting. I've heard some non-natural objects or structures (the objects that send you into trick mode probably) let you jump off them for extra height if going upward. If you're going downward things are a little more accurate, but not enough to be useful since you can just boost in this game and the speed you gain is heavily restrained

Yea, I heard most ppls fav cyberspace level was 1-2 because ppl had to pretty much perfect that level to get an S rank, and because of that, it felt earned. If it was that way, with the additional fixed physics, cyberspace would be WAY better. I personally don’t have a problem with cyberspace’s level design (excluding the 2d stages, i think they should either leave 3 or 4 of them so one in each island, or none at all) bc 1, the only other boost 3d Sonic game I’ve played was a bit of gens, so I don’t know which stages are a reference to what, and 2, I don’t mind the less reaction based levels like Unleashed and more platforming based levels. Some Unleashed like levels (quick and reaction based) would be cool, but I don’t think the platforming based cyberspace stages should go

Couple other mods I’d recommend are the cyberspace alternate lighting and this mod for 4-1 that makes the textures of that stage, look more like Metal Harbor. For the reason similar to the fall foliage in Ouranos mod you mentioned, it adds a bit more visual variety, which in my personal opinion helps cyberspace when you only have 4 actual themes.

Recently there's been codes added in the mod manager that let you trick off any jump pad/dash ramp/hoop/etc. instead of only specific ones, and it's been way more fun moving around with that on. Also use the code that disables the trick highlight effect on trickable objects so everything doesn't have one, to immerse better. Also got rid of the reticle.

Thank you for making this video! I've been really curious about what the best mods are for this game. One day if I get this game on PC (cause I was somehow dumb enough to buy it on switch) then I'll be sure to download some of the mods you suggested. My personal favorites from your list would be the better title screen and the improves physics. I might get the Fixed Elder Koco, but I already have all my stats maxed out so I probably won't need it. Other than that I personally don't have a problem with anything else, although I would love to see a fixed pop-in mod as well.

A lot of these mods are incredible. Especially the Unleashed model and Tracker's Physics. I agree that the animations felt way too stiff, and some things were missing. It makes me admire Unleashed and Adventure with these incredible mods, for their efforts and contributions. Also, now I am begging for a momentum mod in Unleashed by tracker.

Considering Rhea is just the Giganto boss fight arena, I think a better mod would be adding Rhea to Kronos and making it one big map. Add some missions and let enemies spawn there. Maybe make the area where you actually fight Giganto a boss rush area! As much as I love this game, I hate having to start the game from scratch just to relive those epic boss fights! How Sega themselves didn't implement boss rush as a side mode is beyond me.

1.I would really really like to see something like a mod that adds rolling and the spin-dash to the game 2.I know this second idea is somewhat really ridiculous but I would really like to see something like a 0% automation mod ... It would be done by removing the boosters and most of the springs or all of it if possible and tweaking the level design a bit to make the game no automation at all of course the high platforms reached by the springs before have to be reached by skilled jumps kinda like the really high spin-dash jumps in sonic adventure so of course it should be with the physics mod .

I’ve never actually played a Sonic game with mods until very recently. Frontiers gave me the urge since it’s a fun game with tons of potential, but not fully finished. It really made the game feel better when using mods, and I might try mods in games like Generations because of this.

So instead of the unleashed Sonic mod what I did was use the improved frontiers model which basically gives him the longer quills but there's another mod that puts on the unleashed animations so you get the best of both worlds, preferably and cutscenes and stuff the updated frontiers model does look better in my opinion but you have to have the unleashed animations because those are just goated

With regards to potential future mods, I’d like to build off what you said for the Environment Mods by saying that I don’t just want *more* environment mods…I want *better* environment mods. More specifically, I want an environment mod that better integrates the platforming challenges with the environment itself. For example, I want all the platforms, grind rails, etc. that are just randomly floating in mid-air to be replaced/changed so that they’re either part of the geological features (i.e. the rocks, hills, and mountains in the surrounding area), or they’re part of the various ruins and abandoned Eggman bases scattered around the islands. Alternatively, if there’s no real way to better integrate the already-existing platforming challenges into the environment, then I’d like to see them outright replaced with better challenges; Ones that actually require you (and can teach you) to understand and manipulate Sonic’s speed and momentum-based physics to not only get better at playing the game in general, but to also reach new areas and/or find hidden secrets. The next mod I’d like to see is kind of a two-for-one deal: A mod that changes the behaviors of the various enemies found in the overworld (or introduces new ones), and a mod that completely overhauls how combat works at a base level. For the latter specifically, the mod I’m thinking of replaces a lot of Sonic’s flashier combo moves with a bunch of simpler, easier-to-execute moves that are taken directly from/inspired by past games (e.g. using that spinning cyclone stunt from Advance 2 to deal damage to an enemy that can only be hit by said move, using the tornado-generating spin-kick move from ‘06 to lift lighter enemies off the ground/juggle them, etc.) Moreover, I’d also like to see said combat overhaul put a greater emphasis on using the environment around Sonic to your advantage (e.g. Luring faster enemies into hitting walls so they’ll be stunned for a moment, baiting slower enemies into using attacks with longer windup animations so that they leave themselves open to your attacks, etc.). Cuz at it stands right now, the combat in Vanilla Frontiers (there’s a hilarious mod idea), it’s a lot of flash that often commits the egregious sin of taking control away from the player so they can *watch* Sonic do the cool things as opposed to *making* him do the cool things. And that’s just not gonna cut it, especially if we are to take SEGA at their word that this is gonna be Sonic’s default gameplay style for the foreseeable future.

If I were to recommend mods i would have to say boss select: it sets all 4 save files to be right before each Titan fight so you’re able to re-fight the Titans without needing to make a new save file and it disables auto saving so you’re able to re-fight The bosses as much as you want and don’t worry about your save file getting corrupted or lost it uses something called save file redirection so you’re safe file is safe and once you turn off the mod your save file will just go back to where it was Hill top: this one is for the people Who are sick of seeing Green Hill zone it replaces all the green hill zone textures in cyberspace to look like Hill top zone from Sonic 2 Metal harbor inspired 4-1: this one is very simple it turns cyberspace 4-1 to have textures that look like metal Harbor from sonic adventure 2 Adventure quills for super sonic: and finally this mod makes Super sonics quills look like the ones in adventure 1 and 2 personally I’ve always liked how it looks more so if you’re in the same boat i’d recommend this one

I'd recommend you using Merge tool for PlayerCommon, which lets you use multiple physics and combat mods. I had the same problem of too much health with Hedgehog May Cry and physics mods, and i realized they were overwriting each other. I also use Higher Object Pop-in, and Sonic Model Tweaks with Unleashed Animations.

A followup to this video would be good. The unique cyber space themes mod that just came out, for instance, i feel is ESSENTIAL. Oh yeah, and there’s a snow mod, cloud mod, and the end mod for uranos now and i want to make space on my pc to try them out, ESPECIALLY if all 3 are compatible. (Theres a kronos mod with sakura plants that i think might NOT alter rhea, but i havent been able to check for myself.)

I think the title screen we have works more with the music. The planet mod works just as well.

1) Oh, that's why there's so much Title Screen mods on gamebanana. Sure, the default title screen isn't eye-catching, but I honestly wouldn't go out of my way to fix something so small xD! 2) I've got an alternative : don't do any challenges x). They're all optional. But yes, the cutscenes after challenges take way too long, it's really annoying! 3) It's even worse than you think. See the crater on Island 4? It's the EXACT SAME as the one on Island 1. It's got the same layout, the same trees, the same bridge, the same flowers. *They ripped-off that part from Island 1 entirely!* I think the Sonic Team was running out of time and put together the last two maps hastily. I'm really glad that mod exists, because Island 5 does look different enough for me with the Fall setting! 4) Yes, there's a huge problem with text boxes in this game. It's the same for Big: the choices appear, but you'be got to wait an ENTIRE second before you can choose one! Then again, I've got an alternative : don't use the Koco at all x). 5) Correction : Sonic Frontiers does have momentum implemented. You can see it best in Cyberspace levels with rotating platforms: when you're on it, Sonic's motion is impacted by the rotation of the platform. The closer from the center of the platform, the smaller the impact. It's not the most realistic implementation (no videogame implementation of momentum is realistic, as it would require too much calculation power), but it's here. The problem is the game also has a magnet effect that makes Sonic stick to the ground. Both mechanics are awesome (the magnet effect helps control Sonic, and momentum always enhances fast gameplay), but they're also incompatible. As a result, when you're climbing a rock or a mountain, you either get glued to it or propel like a rocket... and you never know which it is until it happens. They really should have separated both mechanics, like : if you jump, _then_ the magnet effect stops, and as long as you don't jump, you stick to the ground... Anyway, it's always cool to see physics tweaks! There's definitely a lot of issues in this game, but most of them are so small I wouldn't call it "rough around the edges". I mean, did you see the releases from the last three years? Cyberpunk 2077, FNAF SB, Pokemon SV... All major releases, all broken to the core. Next to those, Sonic Frontiers is pretty solid. And without comparison, it also holds strong despite all its issues. It doesn't crash, it doesn't lag, it's responsive. There's another mod worth mentioning: Hedgehog May Cry. It enhances battles so you can chain combos a la DMC. It also doesn't outrageously raise the HP of enemies (not as much as Combat DX at least), and it makes battles even better than they are. Personally, I would love two specific mods : - a mod that lets you boost by pressing the Boost button alone. When you're on rails, you better not move your stick as it can easily make you jump on the side ; BUT if the rail reaches the ground and you aren't moving the stick, Sonic suddenly stops because you need to touch that damn stick to boost (something that isn't required on the rail). Sonic should be able to move by just having the Boost button pressed ; I'm pretty sure that's how it worked in Unleashed. Moving the stick is just way too dangerous in certain situations, like the rails but also when the game makes you go from 2D to 3D. - a mod for a less aggressive pop-in. Going fast without seeing much isn't a good idea, and I've taken my fair share of spikes because it would appear right under my nose...

Hey, unlock the frame rate and then use external software to cap it at 60. It fixes the framepacing issues and looks a lot smoother.

Ever since opening the game, I always sit and let the title music play while the sun appears to shine brighter through the clouds just before the music ends. I do admit seeing just *clouds* while opening the game for the first time was a bit disappointing. It started to grow on me as I played more each day, even getting goose bumps. While I feel that different title screens would kill that feeling I get from hearing and seeing the music play through clouds, I can agree that a better title screen could've been made.

This mod video is somehow the sonic version of every "best new vegas mods" list video in where it's not the fun mods in the video, it's the fix stuff mods. (IDK how it's so hard to find the fun nv mods or anyone talking about them) Random tangent aside, neat video.

Future mod idea: faster sonic. I mean, that may work better for people with really fast reflexes and high quality controllers, but I've wanted to see Sonic run legitimately faster than sound for ages. Fastest he went in Sonic Unleashed was about 1/4 the speed of sound. That would be my suggestion.

For the Idea of Finishing Rhea Island, It would be INSANE In my Eyes to have the Plotline of Rhea Island go like this a group of Koco was on the brink of betraying the peaceful nature of the other Koco when it begins being more and more likely that the only thing the Ancients will be immortalized for in FAME is being Adowable, Cuddly Alien-like Critters and ancestors of Chao RATHER Than their Emotional Abilities, Societal Structure and most infuriatingly, Their Technology that borders on Magic. and sometime after the end of the Vanilla Final Frontiers story something occurs that ensures this the Koco group, having snapped with fury about this being reality, decide that if Their technology will never go down in FAME, then the next best thing is their technology going down in INFAMY. with that, they give Eggman and Sage a relic that is essentially a Software Development Kit for Replicating the Ancient's Technology for whatever one desires, which for Eggman, means giving his Army of Badniks a LONG OVERDUE Overhaul Thus, Eggman sets up the beautiful Rhea Island as the current base for the Robotnik Empire This could lead to the once 100% Beautiful Natural island being mildly corrupted by Robotnik-Style Industrialization (or Robotization) with stronger versions of the Badniks from Previous games returning, and have an Artificial Titan Constructed by Eggman as the REAL Test drive of their tech be the Super Sonic FIght but then again this is a LONG SHOT until we know what we CAN mod

about fixing the pop-in, is right now possibly, but with some tools for the game right now other mods wouldnt be compatible with that and can have some other problems, but soon when someone make the needed tool then people would fix the pop-in issues (at least for regular platforms enemies, etc, some textures problems or that idk if can be solved)

My most requested mod would be one that adds a button or method to toggle off or just exit 2D sonic mode. In a lot of levels, and ESPECIALLY Chaos island, there's so many times where I'm trying to explore or just get to an area and then I'm suddenly locked into 2D and I just want a way out.

It’s pretty funny how even now Unleashed is still considered the best visual representation of sonic and his assets are still pulled in for mods. And in this case, that isn’t even an obvious disrespect to the game, because this game is gorgeous and sonic looks great! But Unleashed’s animations still have an edge over them lol
