Joe and Melissa's first 10 minutes in their first episode tells you everything you need to know about them. Joe was drunk off his ass at his own son's christening, then pounding on the table like a toddler and calling his sister garbage. Melissa and her sisters were viciously trashing Teresa. Even if they thought Teresa was being "fake" by congratulating them, at least she was behaving like an adult. That was not the time or place for the Gorgas to engage in such trashy behavior.

The ENTIRE Gorga family--parents included--are the reasons the family is so divided. Teresa said it--Melissa wasn't born with a silver spoon in her mouth...strike 1 for Melissa, strike 2 (which Teresa said often) was Melissa wasn't brought up with the "old school, off the boat Italian" mentality. She wasn't even fully Italian (like she claimed she was). Joe Guidice WAS which is why they loved him so much. Teresa put her brother on the pedestal that she should have put her own husband on. Joe Gorga expected to be on that pedestal. They both expected each other's loyalty over their spouses. Melissa was a catty brat...she still is but she's better at hiding it. She definitely twists things but Teresa overstepped boundaries and was too involved in their marriage. Joe doesn't respect women. All I know is, I've watched this franchise since the beginning, and am TIRED of all of the fighting. Recast them already.

I think the issue stemmed from Melissa having her own sisters so not really being tight with Teresa after they married and since that's his wife, Teresa couldn't stand that her brother chose Melissa over her. Honestly I don't think any woman was good enough for her brother in Teresa's eye but especially Melissa. Melissa didn't kiss Teresa's ring. Personally I believe everyone including the parents are responsible for the dysfunction.

This episode aired in 2011 and it is now 2025 and things only got worse. I blame all of them. I can say that I felt both Teresa and her brother were being sincere. Even though Melissa was a bit sneaky I felt she meant well too. Kathy meant well -- just a lot of gossip, assumptions and misunderstandings. Bottom line Teresa and Melissa were in competition with one another from this season up until the very last one. Teresa always did a bit better in the success department, even after spending time in jail. Both are beautiful women and mothers and I wish they could reconciled! Comparison is at the ROOT of All Inferiority!

Yeah…. There is a reason why Kathy got FIRED from the series, and has ONLY been invited ONCE, to the Housewives events on BRAVO.
