Apparently it does. Oh well the board it's replacing is the B550 vision-D which is getting really expensive and hard to find. I wouldn't recommend a B550 Master to anyone who wants to OC. The B550-E is similar in features to the Taichi but the Taichi is better equipped for RAM OC.

@@mainly_dyutish9 yeah I'm agreeing with you. I made a mistake about how many M.2s it has. I'm just also explaining why I wouldn't remove the board from the list anyway since there aren't really any better alternatives to the B550 Taichi.

@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking Taichi has consistent issues with mem even on the new topology. I’ve worked with about a half dozen people on OC discord who’ve had extreme difficulty with the board. The only thing I didn’t extensively test regarding the issues was termination, namely the ODT impedance. Assuming that wasn’t the cause of the issues, I’m personally hesitant to recommend the board for memory OC.

Thank you very much for this. I am an enthusiast who likes to tinker with their daily setups and learn hardcore overclocking because it fascinates me and indirectly teaches me about the hardware and the physics/engineering behind high-performing hardware. But having high-end dailyable set-ups is perfect content for me, and I think a lot of people. Also, using your power-plane cooling idea (not fool cooling, but basic heatsink and fan) did increase performance by a measurable amount on a 5900x.

I'm currently running 32GB (2x16GB) of Crucial 3600 CL16 at XMP on a 3400g / MSI x570 Gaming Plus (yeah yeah I know the VRM is crap on this board, but I don't overclock these days). I've also got a 16GB (2x8GB) kit of the same stuff, identical XMP timings just single rank Rev-E instead of dual. I was thinking of running all 4 sticks as 48GBs in a triple-rank configuration after I eventually swap out this 3400g for something with Zen3 when prices hopefully come down a bit later in the year. Any oddities you can think of that I might run into when running such a configuration?

What more can you hope to get than 4000Mhz IF and ram speeds? This runs perfectly stable on my Dark Hero with an x5950/Samsung 4000Mhz b-die mem kit. Afaik that's basically as far as IF will go anyway. Or can B550 push this meaningfully higher with BCLK?

Question BZ, What are your current thoughts on the B550 Unify-X? People are saying it's inconsistent and some of them such as mem OC and that I should not buy it if I can't get it binned? It fits more or less what I want to try and play with but I csnt afford to buy a few and bin to sell the bad ones. Is this a real concern or?

Since you really seem to know your ram and motherboards, Could you recommend any budget samsung b-die kits for a 4x4gb or 4x8gb configuration? This is for mining monero-xmr where 4 sticks is optimal, would be paired with an underclocked 3900x or 3950x. Could you recommend a budget b550 motherboard that can handle 3600 cl14 ram configuration with the best vrm possible at or under US $150?

10:01 On the ASRock X570 Taichi board, I believe the 3rd m.2 only shares PCIe lanes with the bottom PCIe x4 slot, so you should be able to run 8 SATA drives and 3 m.2s if you wanted, and give up the bottom PCIe slot (if I'm reading the manual correctly. ASRock doesn't have a nice storage compatibility chart like gigabyte or ASUS). Thanks for the great video as always Buildzoid. Nice to have a great summary video like this. Hi there I would like to ask you for your help ? My new pc build is going to have a 5950x with a gigabyte auros X570S master, but am struggling for which memory to use. The store that is going to build it for me have picked Corsair dominator platinum 16Gb (2x8Gb) 3600Mhz Cl 14 X2 packs. They only stock Corsair memory, I won’t be overclocking the memory so wanted to know if this was good memory to use or if you would recommend a really good kit that maybe I could buy separately and plug in myself. Many thanks in advance

So even if I use 2 dimms and reasonably oc them I can still use them with the Master x570 and just leave those 2 slots empty. My goal is max exploit of IF... which is 3866ish? Question is I'd like to have 64gb in my system for longevity (on a 5950x). but rumours here and there are 32gb sticks are more difficult to oc. Could I ever reach 3866ish ( if cpu permits) with a 2x32gb?

I have the "avoid" B450 Gaming F from Asus and it's running 2000 FCLK on the 5600X quite ok, I just had to bump the four voltages that dram calculator recommends you use, and just a tad over that recommended value for three of them. I did experience some USB reconnecting issues like Ryzen does, like you said that is unstable infinity fabric, so I bumped up those four voltages and now it's running ok. No memory errors on 4000 CL 16, overclocked 3200 CL14 Flare X. I could not get CL 14 to work on 4000 yet. Thanks for creating this channel, I have learned a lot from it. Good luck with your XOC endeavors! I am currently building a custom water loop for the 5600X. Why? Because I want to overclock the snot out of it, and maybe get a 5800X in the future.

Also have 2 of these kits. I have them running 3800 CL14 at 1.49v on a Tomahawk X570. Any higher gives WHEA errors. If you can boot 3800 and are WHEA free (try it at CL18 first to check if it boots and if you're WHEA free) that will likely be the max. I had to buy another set and bin the sticks to do CL14 though, initially one stick was holding me back at 3800 CL16 for the set of 4. Sold the two worst sticks. Individually all the sticks I kept do 4400 CL16 at 1.5v, but as a set its max 4200. But thats with FCLK/BLCK not 1:1 (just wanted to check). Shame we cant do FCLK 2000 1:1 on Zen3 right :(((. Thats why I bought these sticks initially last november when Zen3 came out. I even had 3 different 5900X CPU's and one 5800X in my board to check if I could run higher FCLK. All failed at exactly the same point of 1900 FCLK. Starting to think its the board (bios/agesa/X570) and not the CPU's Infinity fabric......

The best I could do with my 4 stick is 3400 CL14-15-15-31-48. 33 MHz over 3400 will result in mobo not even POST regardless of voltage adjustments on b-die or mem controller on my Ryzen 5900x.

I'm having trouble overclocking with the B550 Unify X. I had a B550 Aorus Pro AC and was able to overlcok my Patriot Viper 4000mhz 2x8 b-die to 3800cl14 but I cant do it with this Unify X. It would boot on the Unify X but it would BSD when I ran Aida or TestMem or any other applications. I used the same ram timings as I did for the Aorus Pro AC with the same ram timings of 14-15-8-12-28-40 but don't know why it wont work on the Unify X. I have a 5800X3D. Can you please help? Any suggestions?

So just a question about the MSI Meg Unify-X. If I wanted to get it and get a sabrent rocket gen4 m.2 for my bootdrive and another sabrent rocket gen4 for gaming. Would they both run just fine? Or would I have to get a sata ssd for my games?

Interesting video, as always. By the way, I'm kinda mad that ASUS didn't made to your list (yeah I love ASUS, judge me) but I can see why. Also, could you post a video on overclocking with PBO2? It's quite fun and different using the curve optimiser vs all-clock overclock.

Hmm, any reason you dropped the X570 Unify? Thought they both (Unify and Aorus Master) are pretty similar and isn't the Unify even a bit better with memory 5000 to 4400.

You’d need to run gear 2, but at that point it makes no sense. If you aren’t overclocking, even 4400 19-19-19 will beat 4000 14-15-15. Frequency is King if on gear 2, and a higher frequency kit if ram with looser subtimings will consistently win.

On the ASRock X570 Taichi (Razer Edition) the only compromise is that you have to choose if you want to use the third M.2 slot, coming from the chipset or the regular chipset PCIe slot. The 8 x SATA always works. (Source: Me and a personal system 🙃)

Gigabyte x570 pro massive vdroop(3%) even with highest llc setting(turbo), also BCLK always hover around 99mhz. Is it normal? Should i upgrade? processor is 5900x.
@yosar6107
@yosar6107 3 жыл бұрын
Turbo is not highest llc setting. At least on B550 pro. There are two higher ultra and extreme (unless they added those two in comparison to x570). And btw vdroop is quite desirable for overclocking CPU. Go and watch AHOC videos about it. For BCLK at least on B550 you have to set manually Infinity Fabric clock (and disable spread spectrum) to get 100 MHz.

WOW incredibly descriptive, I loved it, More, more, more please. I've been looking for a motherboard and Processor like a Ryzen 7 5800X or (really leaning towards) 5900X. I was seriously looking at ASRock X570 Tiachi. After your review and some insight, I believe MSI MEG B550 UNIFY X might be it if I can find one. I was on the right track for ram and bought G.SKILL Ripjaw V32 GB (2X16) DDR4 3600 but didn't realize the CL was 16 until now hope their ok. P.S. I "Subscribed", "Clicked the Bell" and chose "All" to get every video.

I need 128GB for a 5950X, but around here I only have the Crucial Ballistics 3200 in 2x32GB kits. My country sux when it get about memory choice. The 3600 CL16 appears from time to time, but it is rare. Is there an absolutely "no-go" situation for running 4x32GB of 3200DIMM on a Crosshair VIII Formula? I would appreciate any advise around this. Thanks. Edit: I would run this CPU as closely as stock as possible.

if you need 64GB of RAM I'd say the Crucial 3600 CL16 is the only option regardless of the OCing capabilities.

I’ve got a 5950x on an x570 TUF Plus and just recently replaced my 2x16GB CJR with some 4x8gb CL15 4000mhz Ripjaws B-Die. My normal weekday workload demands >32GB, but I went with 4x8GB over 2x16GB so I can take out 2 for pushing OC leaderboards. Sadly it doesn’t seem like it’ll be feasible to boot XMP, and glancing at prices I can return this kit and buy the 2x16GB 3600CL14 kit AND the 2DIMM b550 board at no additional cost. Do you think that’s worth it? I know you’ve raved about the x570 TUF in the past, but I’ve found pretty subpar CPU OC results (CO has been great, PBO has been dog), and I’m gonna be honest I’m tired of ASUS’s terrible documentation and BIOS “design”). I’ll admit I haven’t tested too many config above CL15/CL16, and need to tinker with SOC/VDDP/VDDGs/impedances at lower FCLK, but I’m concerned about missing my chance to return the sticks. Any thoughts? TL;DR: Should I replace my TUF x570 + 4x8 4000CL15 Ripjaws (won’t boot at XMP or CL16) with the first b550 board + 2x16GB 3600CL14? It’ll probably only cost me $20 tops
