If hauling a dual purpose bike,,what are your thoughts on putting the bike corner to corner in the truck bed so you can close the tailgate,,,and then tie it down?

That works well. I’ve done it in the past without issue.

True story..... If you don't think you need "fancy" straps. I never thought I did either. Harbor Freight straps should be just fine for a little Honda Crf50 right??? Well the end of the strap came loose and was flapping in the wind. Within literally about 2-3 minutes (time it took to find a safe place to stop in the Cajon Pass) the 5ft of loose strap frayed and became a 20ft bright orange frayed mess of a flapping ball of pretty much string at that point. Had to pull over and stuff the entire mess up into the frame of the bike and when we got to the spot I had to cut it all out (frayed up to the ratcheting mechanism making it completely unable to release and remove) and replace the strap for the return trip. So yes, a harbor freight strap failed me on a little 50cc kids bike. Strength wise they worked fine. But that loose end caused a mess of problems.

@Gearjammer Agreed, it is my fault the strap came loose. That was my ignorance 100%. Once it came loose and 5 feet of the strap was completely unraveled in about 3 minutes... That's poor quality. The bike was secure thou, the loose end was what shredded.
