#motorglider #glider The German motorglider, D-KBBW, is a Grob 109B (the Bravo), an old lady that does not need much Botox. Still shining with 1800 Starts. I will add 10 Starts for testing. From Brussel to Toulouse in France I went with Ryanair, slept with AirBNB and then tested this Grob 109B with the special 'one man/woman' mounting kit. This kit is essential because with 17 meters of Spanwith it does not fit in our Hanger of the club. The 'LSV Lingener Flugverein' in Germany. The Pyrenees Mountains are very near to the strip (LFCG) in Saint-Girons. I once had an ASW24TOP (motorglider) that has been sold in 2021 then Flying the Falke 25C and my DG400 motorglider. I am more and more interested in flying with a motor. The joy of flying to and from is special. If it is good whether you are completely independent. A TMG is a Touring Motor Glider, so more motor than glider you could say. A TMG can be used more or less like a cessna but is less expensive. There are not so many TMG Motorgliders anymore. You have Falke 25, Dimona HSK, Aeromot, Valentin Taifun and Grob 109A/B. All those old ladies come from the 1980-2000 period or earlier. At the moment UltraLight is more popular. Search for Pilot Frank and co with the JMB aircraft VL3, rotax, it gives you more than 300 KMH speed. Why such an old lady? A motorglider has a safety factor! No motor? Enginefailure? It glides 30 KM on every 1000 meter of height. I started in 2005 with gliding so this is also a factor, no motor is quite normal for me. Of course 250.000 Euros for such a VL3 is much more than 20.000 - 50.000 Euros. You have to look for a good preserved lady but maybe the D-KBBW is the one I was looking for?

Radio : Becker AR6201-022 8.33/25kHz, TDX-S : Filser TRT800A, ELT Pointer, GPS: Garmin Pilot III, solar panel with gliding battery. Gel coat, paintwork and hood in perfect condition. crack free. Annually polished. All LTAs/TMs done incl. MSB 817-64/2. Complete and up-to-date documentation since new. Cruise flight: at 150- 170km/h with 10-13 liters, 100L tank, 1150km distance flight, glide ratio 28. Engine starts absolutely perfectly.

PRO Grob 109B: NR 1 The View ist great with a really great seat/chairs, feels like a serious plane, with the mounting kit a super handling on the ground, full compound so more or less weatherproof, 100 liter tank, only 9-13 liter an hour compared that to a cessna, it can glide, more or less like the ASK21 trainer, as a serious option. Nice dashboard. Maneuverability on the ground is great. but you have to practice.
Negative Grob 109B: Old porche motor air cooled with little reserve and a bit underpowered. To get in is not so easy. You have to train the landing, side wind is dangerous. Grob spareparts are financial suicide. Not much weight reserve, 200 kg

Danke! Echt jetzt, neben dein VL Supermachine , auch Grob 109, super! Ich würde liebensgerne mal mit dir in Formation landen und fliegen auf Münster-Osnabrück oder Telgte. Am 14.2.23 ist fuer so was super wetter 😂?! Wird bestimmt ein super Video.

Owned a G109B for 20 years 1985-2005. Flew it from Ontario Canada to Florida and east and west coasts of Canada. Great aircraft. I loved soaring it and have out-climbed a Blanik in a thermal. Now have a Silent2 Electro. My wife would never fly with me as she would get airsick so single seat now.

Nice video. I fly one with my partner out of EDLG. Boarding /un-boarding is a bit of thing if yr tall. But the seats are more convenient than HK36/Scheibe. Landing is not too difficult (In my opinion a taildragger HK-36 is much more dramatic). Side wind sensitivity is something to bear in mind (as with all tail draggers).

Grob 109B is probably the best TMG you can get. Be carefull with landings.

I live in Nevada, USA. Any detailed hi resolution photos and basic dimensions would help, then I could draw up plans and have it fabricated here. My 1984 109B is serial number 6285 and I love it but folding the wings is a chore!
