I think it zapped that mouse 4 times, but it has since zapped many more. Kept my house mouse free for a couple of years now, and it is amongst my favourite gadgets. Means I don't have to keep checking mousetraps.

These traps worked for a while. I've had for 2 years and I did catch a lot of mice one at a time. The wifi is very finicky . In the cold, the WIFI loses signal. In the end 2 years later, been trying to connect some traps that came offline and they don't want to connect back to the app. There's a reason they discontinued them. Looking into other wifi options.

why do you need wifi for it to work? wifi just lets you know when its trapped. Doesn't the light come on to tell you.

I just bought this Smart Kill and I don't see the power ON switch staying lit up after I press the power button. It flashes a couple times then goes out. How can I tell it is activated and ready? Or was that it? The instructions say to turn the unit OFF when going to remove a mouse, but pressing it doesn't show it turned anything off and I don't see anything in the app to indicate the trap is powered On vs Off. I have to climb a ladder as well to place it, and their customer service # to call says they're closed even though it's within their listed open hours on the website 😕

As I remember (I don’t have it right to hand), the switch has a subtle but definite on/off to it. Ie when you press it on, it stays very slightly depressed, and you can just tell the difference when you click it on and off. I think I remember the light going out too, so if when you switch it on, the light flashes, then it is on till you switch it off.

For purposes of keeping battery consumption as low as possible, the LED will not stay lit. Once you press the On/off button, the button will stay pressed while the V symbol on the button flashes 3 times. From there on, the button LED V symbol will stay off. The trap is on! In your app as long as you see that trap then it is on and working. You'd know when the trap dead because of exhausted batteries OR that it has lost connectivity because on the app that trap will show CONNECTION LOST. If you don't see that, then trap is on and ready to zap. Hope that helps. I've had these for a while and I've caught many mice. Some mice have actually mysteriously escaped the trap without getting zapped and I've had a few bad traps that the wifi radios go on them but other than that it's a decent trap. Extreme cold weather specially will deplete the batteries in as fast as 7 days which stinks. I've been looking at options to plug them in. Good luck

I turned off the power, but I don't see any status change on the connection? So the wifi stays on even after shutting down the power?

No, I’m sure it doesn’t stay connected after switching off the power! Probably just a delay in the app registering that the trap is switched off. You’ve reminded me, I haven’t had any more mice in months now!

(There isn't room in there to zap two mice at the same time, but it may be reasonably unlikely, because you get an alert of the first one, and you'll probably have removed it before another comes to join the party)

Overall it’s a pretty good video but if you could show a close up where the peanut butter would go that would help when I read the instructions it said insert it in a “cup “, I was literally looking for a cup thought it was missing Even with my glasses on haha that’s on me

If you buy this, you'd only trap one mouse. The rest of them would learn their lessons when they see their friend dead. Just get the old fashion $1 mouse glue. And.........peanut butters do not always work well

Listen! The first generation Victor mouse trap worked like a charm. So what happened??? I'm extremely disappointed. I have recently purchased 3 M2505 traps which don't work. I've returned them for a refund from the retailer. Well I didn't give up yet. I purchased the Victor smart kill yesterday, and again, it did not kill the mouse. This has really been an inconvenient. Here's what happens. When the mice enter the kill chamber they get zinging and zapped and they escape, When I inspect the area the traps are span around like the mouse was freaking out. Yes! fresh batteries were used. I sorry, who ever is endorsing this product is grossly exaggerating its effectiveness. I'm not looking for an apology I just want results. Not happy!

I paid $39 for a Smart-Kill trap. I connected it to wifi and set it according to instructions. I baited it with peanut butter. Within 2 hours I had a 'hit but no kill. At that point I switched to bird seed (sunflower, cracked corn etc). I cleaned out the trap, and put a few sunflower seeds in the end there by the holes. I then sprinkled a little bit of seed around the opening and put a couple of seeds in the back part of the kill chamber. That was yesterday. I've gotten two kills since then and one was like two minutes after I checked the trap just a few min ago at 11:30 PM EST. KILL Happened at 11:32 (in my shed) and I went an cleaned it and reset it and I'm on a roll....two for 3 so far. BTW, I use 4 LITHIUM batts.

Victor Mouse Traps suck. They fall apart quickly after catching one or two mice. Poorly and cheaply made they are guaranteed to stop working almost immediately after you buy them. Stay away from this garbage

I'm not sure which model you are talking about, but the electronic one I reviewed here is BRILLIANT. It has worked faultlessly for me for over a year now, and it just keeps on catching more. And it hasn't even run out of battery yet. I could not be more pleased with it! (and I am not on commission, in case you ask)

@@arlo.guthrie I'm sure in every pile of junk there's at least one unit that works. I've had two M241's - the electrical wiring failed on the first unit in under 6 months. The second unit worked for about 4 kills and I put it away. Took out the batteries, cleaned it, wrapped it in a towel until needed again. When I took it out the kill light indicator had failed - even though it hadn't been used in awhile. Then it let mice go into the trap, eat and escape. Customer service told me if you don't use it the electrical wiring corrodes. So it can fall apart - even when not in use. Obviously you got lucky but it's an expensive plastic piece of garbage

Went off 4 time because the mouse didn't die right away it suffered and was zapped 4 times before it died. Cruel contraption no animal should have to suffer.😢

No, it did not suffer. The zaps were very close together (within seconds), so the first zap would have rendered it unconscious, and then it just twitched involuntarily a couple of times.
