Today we take a look at CakeAssault's FLAWLESS run at Heat Wave 7, and how he was able to win Rivals 2 Singles without dropping a single game utilizing Fleet's signature "Float" mechanic to his advantage.

Getting a 2-0 win over X5C is probably the most impressive if not only impressive thing in this video

I almost never watch videos with low views, but i instinctively clicked on your video (because of the thumbnail) and kept watching because of the great content and analysis, and I was surprised this didn’t have 10k views. Keep it up man 🔥

How often is float useful in neutral? Does cake use it mainly for adv and disadv?
@WrongTreeGG2 ай бұрын
@@alexanderthegreat731 the neutral is something I didnt delve into because of how variable and abstract neutral can be, but Cake does do a lot of empty floats - it breaks up the timing and flow of the game very nicely for him. It flips the idea of jumping on its head. When someone commits to a jump in neutral, their options become restricted (relatively speaking) and they have a limited amount of things they can do. Float disrupts the natural timing the opponent follows and allows for Fleet to threaten instant falling aerials while also skipping the rising part of the jump.

@@WrongTreeGG sweet, I just started playing fleet yesterday (after maining claren) so really useful that this vid popped up. Thank you 🙏

@@alexanderthegreat731 Another useful float in neutral is the instant float nair out of shield, its a very fast option that can catch an opponent off guard

This video changed the way I view stalling in the air in general. I've been using Loxodont’s down b defensively to bait and punish for a while now but I never really considered using it to stay off-stage longer for edge-guarding. This kind of has implications for a lot of characters even if they can't do it to the extent fleet can.

Good vod review. Everyone always suggests to review with a purpose in mind but so few do. Loved it

video is okay, some points and statements are weird (rivals is a hard game because its conpetitive?/float being close to 4D rivals?) but saying choices or opponents were looking stupid or moronic is a bit unnecessary, pointless negativity like that just makes me want to click off. the parts that just focused on the float plays themselves were good

Fleet has some of the worst stats in the game: very light (2nd lightest), very slow (barely faster than Lox in both ground and airspeed), surprisingly low jump height, low airdodge movement, worst frame data in the game, bad ledge getup options, easiest projectiles to parry/counter... And yet she's still an okay character overall That's how great float is

Is float crazy in every game? It was crazy in Ultimate and smash4. I've seen the melee clips. Float must be good as a concept.
@WrongTreeGG2 ай бұрын
I believe so yeah, I didn't even mention in this video the inherent pressure in being able to do instant aerials close to the ground like Peach is known for. Being able to skip the arc of a jump to do a falling aerial instantly is insane considering how good Fleet's aerials are.... long live float ......
@jop32492 ай бұрын
Float is insane, being able to do essentially grounded aerials already makes it broken not even considering edge guarding, recovery mixups, microspacing, even using it out of shield is great.
@VishnuKumar-nt5oy2 ай бұрын
Idk if it's like this in rivals as well, but I can speak for ultimate in saying that there's a difference between damage from short hop and full hop aerials, and float acts as a full hop multiplier for some reason lmao, so that's to add to peach/daisy being busted
@alfonshedstrom98592 ай бұрын
It's always super good and theres many hypothetical characters where adding float to someone would make them toptier
@Saskaruto162 ай бұрын
It's one of the strongest mechanics ever in platform fighters. The only reason it isn't stronger is because in Smash it's been Peach exclusive and most of her kit is specifically balanced around it. In other platform fighters who experiment with giving other characters a float, they almost always end up being very strong because it's just such a versatile attribute to have that can make even slow niche moves busted just because of how float lets you use them. Fleet specifically has pretty mediocre frame data and low speed but between her projectiles and disjoint she has so much area control, and the float just multiplies that by letting her occupy spaces for extended periods of time to make situations that for other characters would require a timing read into just a guaranteed checkmate situation.

When rivals 1 was the only game I know Cake dominated in it but I didn't like the game so I didn't pay attention. When Rivals 2 launched I wont lie I thought cake assault would kinda fall off. But nah dude is cracked. And TBH I am glad a rivals 1 god is arguably the best rivals 2 player. It would be weird if it was a melee/smash player.
