I watched a behind-the-scenes clip about that, and one reason why it worked so well, whereas the CGI Tarkin in Rogue One was bit wonky, was because they were able to motion-capture Sean Young's face for the scene. Brevity and lighting undoubtedly helped, but overall it was masterfully done, and did not look like CGI.

I hate how Ryan Gosling garners more credit for his looks rather than his work. The man is a film genius. Despite his immense fame, Blade Runner: 2049 is Gosling's first $100 million budget film. I'm still in awe over the way GDT took a story that sounds absurd on the surface, directed the sh* t out of it by bringing the actors to those levels, conceptualized multi layered symbolism (which went over a lot of people's heads), pulled in tons of old film references, cultivated the best production design on a low budget, hired Desplait for a Oscar winning score, and turned it into a multi genre adult film. F*cking incredible, as none of us predicted 2017 would have given us that. One of my favorite best pic winners.

Blade Runner 2049 isn't just the best film of 2017, it's *one of the best films of the decade and truly a science fiction masterpiece. Box office aside, I'd say that it's very similar to Avatar or they're different sides of the same coin. If avatar focused on CGI and special effects then Blade Runner was the answer to that with its practical effects. In time I truly believe BR2049 will go down as one of the best films of all time.

Loved Blade Runner 2049. Warning if you aren't familiar and haven't seen it yet. It's sci-fi, but also a slow burn (long), mystery-noir movie with some action spread throughout. If this doesn't appeal to you then you'll likely find this boring. The visuals really drive this movie and it's damn beautiful.
@donaldjgumpofficial57546 жыл бұрын
I wish that movie was half an hour shorter, I would've loved it so much but it really dragged for me and it ruined a lot of the spectacle and the bleakness of the world.
@theshawshankinception12206 жыл бұрын
Ronin AM Man, nobody who wanted to see it went to see it. All of us who were interested in seeing it did, and we all know how great it was. The fact that it is long gives you time to watch in awe. It is artistic gold. Everybody who expected that got exactly what they wanted. It was spectacular. Still not better than Dunkirk and Three Billboards though.
@IJustMadeAComment6 жыл бұрын
Ronin AM It’s a movie to think about, but not too hard because the premise is like a huge, gaping plot black hole. Lol Need birth to create an army of replicants, didn’t I just see a replicant fall from an oversized go-gurt package? Can we not do that over and over again? And have they never tried to create that before, it’s just like some random coincidence?

+A little bit of Monika Tommy Wiseau did so much in LA. He said it's a place to become a big star. I know BR's set in the future, but still, there have been crazier skits about Tommy Wiseau then this. You could even have him meet Rick Deckard at the year 2049. A whole bunch of shenanigans could happen! Ahahaha...

Grayson Krapovicky I enjoyed the movie a lot myself. But how I feel won't help how many people see the movie. I think audiences have low attention spans these days.
@thefirstbourne1496 жыл бұрын
+Reeloy Kenjins Or, they just aren't into "artsy" movies. This movie definitely was, but come on....that's one of the reasons why it does live up to the original! Tron: Legacy, I didn't hate, but where it falters was the pace. Yes, the pace...2049 doesn't technically suffer with pacing because it is slow throughout and it goes through necessary story beats. Legascy felt the need to throw in, not really consistent, if well-choreographed, and well-edited, fight scenes and action scenes.
