Thank you for the video. This technic really helped relieve most of the headache I had. I was in a motorcycle accident 30+ years ago in which I flipped over the bike, landing on the ground headfirst (I was wearing a helmet). I had a disc put in between c4-c5 in 2010, but still get headaches about once a month. Any more videos you recommend?

So you: 1) Rotate CS ipsilaterally. 2) Contact. 3) Glide down the SCM as you passively rotate (contralateral rotation) to neutral. Is this how you do each step? In step 3) do you go further than neutral?

Awesome. Thanks for uploading. In my patients i very often find the right scalenus anterior very sensitive and painfull. It seems like this happens pretty often in right handed people. Do you have any possible explanation why this may be the case ? Thanks from germany
@JohnGibbons
@JohnGibbons 5 жыл бұрын
The scalene muscles will always be sensitive and I would be very gentle because of the relationship to the brachial plexus and subclavian artery, the reason why the right is generally more tender is possibly due to being right handed so out is the dominant side and is always working..regards JG

I'm wondering, can the scm muscles cause a choking sensation in your throat from being tense or sore? I am tense a lot especially lately and I don't have the best posture and sit infront of a laptop a lot so I get neckpain in the back of my neck but lately it's been the sides of my neck and this choking sensation. If so will this technique help and is it possible to do it on yourself?

Omg I’m having the same issue
@JohnGibbons
@JohnGibbons 3 жыл бұрын
The soft tissue technique is worth trying but remember a lot of other muscles will be involved, not just the SCM so get someone to work all around the neck, shoulder region. Not sure about the choking effect - there is a possibility because of the close proximity of these muscles to the throat. Regards JG

I have been getting pain on LHS deep inside scalene and goes down to shoulder and bicep tricep arm and fingers. Have had every test under the sun as had for 15 years. Just went private and there is no disc compression of nerve. They found osteocytes in neck and electrical conduction of the nerve found low electrical conduction of one of the nerves I think c5 or c6. Tried brachial plexus nerve block which was amazing pain-free for 4 days then came back. Just had cervical epidural c1-c7 yesterday so hoping this works. Any other advise or help as it feels like a dead end. It's a tingling radiation deep pain

I e had this similar pain for 18 years and just like you tried every avenue doctors recommended like seeing a neurologist, chiropractor, physical therapy, nerve block, etc. Saw a specialist in Chicago and said it had nothing to do with the slight bulging disc in the C5 C6. He didn’t know what else to recommend. He said it’s probably a repetitive strain injury. I let it go I was tired of trying to figure out how to get relief. I am now researching fascia stretch. Hoping for some answers. Read your reply in here and wondering if you found a solution to your pain. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Hi. I was diagnosed with costochondritis in the past, after suffering pain and 'cracking' at the right side of my sternum. It went away for a few years but came back about a year ago. It has now become constant, with gradually worsening pain and more widespread cracking at the sternocostal joints. Over the last few weeks, I have had tightness and tenderness in the exact spot you are massaging in this video, along with a feeling of 'fullness' in my jaw and ear area on the right hand side. Do you think this is likely to be connected to the issues with my sternum and ribcage? I'm just trying to learn a bit more so that I can explain things to my doctors here in the US (I'm originally from Wales), as they don't seem to understand how uncomfortable and restrictive my symptoms are, and basically just say 'take ibuprofen'. Any info you could give would be greatly appreciated. 👍🏻

I have flares of painful costochondritis and I do not have access to this type of therapy. I’m not at all saying it’s a substitute for the techniques shown …but I bought a red light panel (that also has infrared), for over all anti aging benefits. I had a flare of costochondritis yesterday and I used the red light/infrared combination on my upper back and then chest for 10-12 minutes at a distance of 12”. I’m amazed at how much relief I got within an hour of treating it. This has lasted like 36 hours and I’m just now feeling a little twinge again. Plan to get in another session before bed!

Hi, I have pain on left side of my neck going on almost 2 years now. And I noticed that sometimes or maybe certain ways I inhale it hurts on that side of my throat and sometimes when I swallow food. I don't know if its because of the big muscle in neck or I've got a tumor, cancer or something bad going on but it has been hurting a long time. I have shoulder popping with movements in both shoulders but only have the pain on one side and not both. I don't know, its driving me crazy. I see that you said something about inhaling with throat pain. How are you doing with that now? Thanks and stay safe 😄

Oh how I wish I could find this type of treatment. 😢 I live in a somewhat rural area. I can’t even locate a RA that can help. They just want to shoot me up with Botox and other injections.
