I liked both guitars I thought each did what it should for the Models they were . I have a 000-28 EC that sounds and plays amazing. I have owned over 30 Martin guitars most standard series but have had 2 custom shop an OM 28 and D-41 and a few other signature series models . Martin makes good quality guitars.

Nice! It appears it’s only Martin that are charging $25,000 for Brazilian but I guess the smaller builders can still offer it at a lower price.

Really interesting experience with the Authentics! I played an Authentic D-28s at GC once and found the neck to be really odd. Just like you explained--It was thin at the first fret and chunky at the 12th! I feel better about having my Standard serious HD-28, as I primarily strum myself. Thanks Aaron!

A long time ago I had a Washburn 12 string that was light with minimal bracing, with an amazing sound. Total strangers kept trying to buy it from me after hearing it. Turns out all that minimal bracing was a time bomb and one day I noticed the strings were getting higher and higher, because the top of the guitar was pulling up behind the tailpiece, deforming the shape. A repair shop said the whole top needed replacing and more bracing was needed. The wood used was just too thin, compounded by lack of bracing. So it was really a disposable guitar that was bound to fail eventually. But it sure did sound fantastic while it lasted.

That can be an issue with the old guitars too. Just have to take a little extra care with them in regards to storage and humidity etc.

Truly excellent video! I love the pick guard on the dreadnought, the 000 appears not to have the plastic removed, but the doctors say I am legally blind so whatever. I have a dreadnought and a 00. Both are Adirondack and mahogany. I finger pick and rarely use a pick and I love them both (yes, I have others that I play at least weekly) I really like the 000 and I hope to buy a new rosewood one day. It may be tomorrow but not likely.

I have a reimagined 2018 D41 Ambertone w/ K&K Trinity I just love. I use it on my permanent Friday gig where I know it won't get bashed into! :) Perfect for strumming but handles finger picking well, moderately bright and has a good bit of volume to it. I also just had my 1970 D45 worked on, neck reset, refret, new bridge, plays and sounds beautiful, very bright complex highs, amazing sustain but doesn't have the volume the D41 has. I want to put a pickup in it and take it out but don't know if I'll be able to hear it at a noisy gig. Also have a custom shop 000 Ambertone, not an Authentic but it has a nice V neck on it as well and love it! Both of those Authentic models sound amazing though! Great video, thanks!

Aaron I agree with your assessment. Last year I bought a Custom D28A Authentic 1937, and while it is a fantastic guitar in so many aspects I still think my 2019 D18 standard gives me the better live acoustic sound, especially when strumming. The Authentics do something not many modern guitars can do, which is be a faithful recreation of the golden aged vintage Martin tone. However, modern guitars do something great as well. I find modern Martins often have a little sweeter and warmer tone, probably due to the use of sitka tops, different bracing, and modern construction. Both can be good, but I think many Martin buyers have been sold on the idea that vintage is always better. What I have found is that this isn't always the case.

I agree. They are two different animals and are both great!

I played a used D18 authentic recently. To my ear it was the acoustic guitar sound of songs from the 60’s/70’s. It sounded like the James Taylor or Neil Young for instance. A bit like having a certain pedal for a certain effect. I really liked the guitar but……very focused in one direction.
@aaronshortmusic Жыл бұрын
Yes these guitars were ‘the sound’ of the 60’s and 70’s Folk/Rock scene.

Great video, Aaron. The dreadnought sounds much brighter and more open to me w/ the sunburst 000 sounding a bit nasal

That was always be the case when comparing two sizes back to back. It’s the downside of comparing.

Great to hear the Martins ! A Lyric is all you need with the dry sounds. Love the CEO but I’m stuck with my wonderful 70s D28, now overhauled as we age gracefully.

Hey Aaron did you ever get your My Volts USB cable to be able to power your TC Play Acoustic through the S1 Pro +? I ordered one of their cables made specifically for an HX Stomp and it does not power the unit via the Bose. Super frustrating.
@aaronshortmusic Жыл бұрын
I did not but you can. You need the reverse polarity adapter. The HX Stomp could be a problem because it uses a lot of power.
@JonOsborneOfficial Жыл бұрын
@@aaronshortmusic It’s funny that the HX Stomp My Volts cable works great with the UA Dream pedal via the Bose so I guess it’s not a total loss 🙄😹
@aaronshortmusic Жыл бұрын
@@JonOsborneOfficial Yes you need the correct polarity. They sell an adapter to give center negative which is what the TC needs. The amount of power isn’t the issue.
@JonOsborneOfficial Жыл бұрын
@@aaronshortmusic I never actually tried the TC cable. This was for an HX Stomp. I tested it out on a computer, a USB brick and the Bose and none of them will power the HX Stomp. Like what is the point of making that cable if it doesn’t work? Makes no sense.
@JonOsborneOfficial Жыл бұрын
@@aaronshortmusic hey Aaron! So with this polarity adapter for the TC Helicon and the Myvolts cable is it proven to work with the Bose S1 Pro plus? Do you know anyone who has successfully done it with the Bose? I kinda want to order that cable as well but I’m worried it will also not work.
