Saw UADA live. Great album. Great show. There are numerous bands that "sound like other bands"... MGLA is very influential and has given birth to similar acts. So has Darkthrone, Emperor, Metallica and any number of other bands in all different genres.

Thanks for the effort - found a bunch of new and interesting bands. Not only in the video but also in the comments. Just leaving a few of my 2018 favorites from various genres that might not been that well known (I guess everyone knows Demonical, Tad Morose etc. so not going to mention those): Death Metal: Wombripper, Ichor, Deathstorm (PL), Incremate, Skinned, Pulverized, Befouled, Wrathrone Black Metal: Misanthropic Might, Ethelyn, Svartkonst (arguable might also fall under DM) Melodic Death Metal: Nyktophobia, Lilith's Breed, Sundead Power/Prog/Traditional Metal: Lyra's Legacy, Reaper's Revenge, Ghostship Octavius, Forbidden Seed Somehow I ignored Thrash and Doom in 2018 although. While those are not my main genres I normally tend to get a few albums each year but there is just too much stuff being released and I am way behind.

Finally someone who mentions the superb band Vanhelgd. They really deserve to get some more attention. I belive that their vocalist makes the coverart for alot of bands, including some of Ghosts releases. Great video, I was hoping that Funeral mist and Necrophobic would get on the list though

My favorite video you do every year. Great picks and there some I need to pick up. That 1914 I’ve ignored only because I kept seeing pop up on my Facebook feed hyping it up. I tend to to brush off hyped albums just because I’m an idiot I guess. But I’m definitely going to give it a listen now. I tend to disagree with you on the new Hate Eternal. It’s my number 1 just because like you said Hate Eternal is extremely consistent and I thought on this one Erik added a lot variety to it. It has some mid tempo parts that adds a lot to HT. It caught me off guard. I was like damn! Erik! You added some extra greatness to this one! It reminds me of mid era Morbid Angel! But as always great job Ed!!!!

I love Ghost but 'Prequelle' was trash. 'Meliora' was amazing so the disappointment was even bigger. As for 2018, amazing year, I would recommend new Alkaloid, Obliteration, Slugdge, Un, The Ocean and Sumac for you to check out, cheers Ed!

Si I''m late... :) But what an epic year, what an epic conclusion in this video and what epic progress Ed (Seriously man, you get more in shape by the video!). Cheers to you man. And for Baldrick, as long as he doesn't try to "small towel" trick again. Err, I don't know what he hoped to achieve... :| But keep a close eye on him mate. That Sulphur Aeon - The Scythe of Cosmic Chaos was the best way to finish this year. I'm going to get another copy of the album, so that I'll have one I never use. Which rarely happens with me, because I don't have that much to spend. But this is one of those albums I'll take to the grave. Made my year. Plus, I'll admit it... After years of avoiding this realization, I started liking Ghost. I think I "got" what they were doing and for what it is, I think it's great. A band can come out with variety like Ritual, Square Hummer and Miasma (The instrumental, which is a masterpiece in it's own right), and have them all sound perfect for what they are... That deserves a salute, regardless of how people view the band's style(s). Btw, thank for Endless. Never heard of them. AMAZING. Female vocalist... Damn. Well, for 2019 I first hope that the drama in Batushka will be sorted out and that Krzysztof will gain the upper hand...

If you are into these types of bands like I am, check out my playlist kzbin.info/aero/PLhlB4gCo6fO0Q3vpsZtebCXgHmtMD5YLx, the majority here seems to be inspired by Chuck's later progressive era, but Morfin, Gruesome and (I guess) Carnivore are focused more around Chuck's earlier albums. There is only one band here which reminded me of Control Denied which is Beyond Unknown, formed by Shannon Hamm who worked with Schuldiner on Fragile Art of Existence album.
