Great video. This is competition karate. Not those finals where they're to scared to get a counter and lose. Finally a movie that shows that we use sweeping techniques in karate.

the purpose of semi-contact competition is to show speed and technique, in contrast with full contact, where there rarely are real, clean karate techniques. If you can "touch" someone in a competiotion, you could easily punch someone really fast on the street. Technique is alot more important than strength.
@Oniaxus16 жыл бұрын
Takedowned has a great point there :) Sanbon xD @ Pantherkursk, u should go and compete in those tournaments, then you'll face the karate spirit that it takes to be succesfull in this sport. Osu! ;)

He uses his hip+the momentum of his opponent, he uses his hand almost only to control the throwing. Nonetheless a very nice throw!! I

They jsut choose not to, it's no different than the kyokushin guys not fighting WKF style; the WKF guys prefer the combination of speed, agility, power and precision over just duking it out, and all of these guys are incredible athletes and if they focused on kyokushin or w/e they would excel just as well at that. And no they would not get beat down easy if at all
@YownMediaDotCom14 жыл бұрын
"in contrast with full contact, where there rarely are real, clean karate techniques" Ever wonder why that is?
@PeterStorm115 жыл бұрын
its called semi-contact. plus karate is a sport or respect, the aim of karate is to have the intention to hurt not to kill him or her. you want a good fight and for you aponant to stay standing to you can beat them with technique not raw power.

No, Elwyn Hall would have slammed him in the face and been instantly disqualified. There's a very good reason you don't see Mr Hall on the competition circuit any more. WKF is "tap, tap, tap", those crazy cats from Liverpool Red Triangle were "smash, smash, smash".
