My dad, an indian immigrant, loved lamb as a child. Then, he became very close with a lamb on his family friend’s farm. He’d see that lamb so often, and became really fond of it and do his best to keep it safe and happy. In the village he lived in, they have an annual ceremony where they’d kill a lamb in public and cook and serve lamb to the people. The lamb that had been chosen that year just so happened to be the lamb that my dad was close to, and he was absolutely horrified and overcome with sadness. Unfortunately, he couldn’t do anything about it, and when the day came, the lamb was slaughtered right in front of his eyes. He was so traumatized that he hasn’t been able to eat lamb since, as he would immediately throw up. It’s been so many decades and he still hasn’t touched lamb. As someone who loves to eat it myself, I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with eating meat. But just know that animals are creatures who had a life that was sadly taken away. Try to be mindful about the meat you eat
