i studied broadcasting. Worked on air briefly in small markets in late 90d. Followed the industry my whole life. Musburger is worthy of if not being on The Mt Rushmore of sports broadcasters, then the last supper....he was just that good. Very versatile. No one could generate excitement for a college football game like MUSBURGER. Im getting old man. Pretty soon, no more Al Michaels, no more Marv Alberts. Scully gone. Musburger gone. No one to replace these guys.

Awesome as a kid I would get so excited for the NFL today to start so I could hear Brent say "YOU ARE LOOKING LIVE AT THE SILVERDOME IN PONTIAC MICHIGAN" and I would get so excited then of the game would come on and usually with the Lion's it didn't end well, but the start never failed.

The best of Brent Musburger . . . but no NBA play by play calls. Kinda shows just how great Musburger is, when sports fans under 30 know him as a great college football announcer . . . but don't realize that he's arguably the best TV NBA play by play guy of all time as well.

He might be the greatest of all time, and that’s saying alot considering how many great announcers there have been. I found this video looking for his call of the Raiders TD to beat the Jets which I can’t believe isn’t available apparently. My favorite Brent call was “This.........could be the greatest comeback......in Florida State history” in the infamous Choke and Doak game.

If there's ever a Mt. Rushmore of sports announcers, Brent Musburger would have to be there, along with the late great Dick Enberg, Gus Johnson, and Keith Jackson. Though debatable I'm sure, but these are the 4 greatest I've witnessed in my lifetime. I know I'm leaving out some greats such as Kevin Harlan, Joel Meyers, Chick Hearn, Verne Lundquist, Pat Summerall, Al Michaels, Gary Bender, Al Maguire, etc....but these 4 are my faves.

So much missing though...Musburger's intro of Magic Johnson in his NBA debut to the entire country (a rare game back then that was shown live in prime time). "This man has a smile that lights up a television screen from here to Bangor, Maine!" After Jake Plummer's seemingly national championship claiming escape and TD scramble in the 1997 Rose Bowl (yes, Arizona State was #2 in the nation and would have staked a huge claim with a win)..."Plummer, in trouble, STEPS AWAY, CUTS FREE, BREAKS LOOSE...FIVE, TOUCHDOWN...SUN DEVILS! The Snake DOES IT AGAIN! This team won't die! You can cut a snake's head off, but he continues to live!" The Flea Kicker (#1 Nebraska at Missouri)..."Frost to the middllllllllllllllllllllllllllllle, jugglllllllllllllllllllllllllled, DIVING TOUCHDOWN NEBRASKA! DAVISON ON THE DEFLECTION! NEBRASKA'S A POINT AWAY...FROM TYING THE GAME!!!"

Great stuff, but where's the 1976 NBA Finals call "Gar Heard turn around shot in the air..." or the 1980 NBA Finals call of "What a fantastic move by the Doctor!" or the 1988 NBA Playoff call where he says about Larry Bird "You are Watching What Greatness is all about" or the classic 1995 MLB Division Series "Here's the Division Championship, Mariners Win It, Mariners Win It!" Maybe that's for volume 2 lol, but nonetheless, great stuff and thanks for posting the great work of this legend!
