These came from a time when musicians had to compose music to accompany plays and Opera. Combined together, audiences not only got entertained but became intrigued. You hear the stories. I must of Been 9-10 (85 86) years old. On a school excursion one day with a few classes from a couple of other schools we saw about half a dozen dudes all with different instruments playing classical music. But they were doing funny stuff while playing to appease us kid. By the end of it the had probably 300 kid in a standing ovation. I wish I could remember their name to give them the credit. But after that I would borrow my grandfathers cassettes to listen to it. I’m no connoisseur but certainly appreciate the music from that day. 🇦🇺 🦘

The first time I heard THE SEASONS, CONDUCTED BY LEONARD BERNSTEIN at Carnegie Hall in New York City, I knew then that I would incorporate this music in my memories all my life. Wonderful memories for this old lady. Pure Joy to hear these 'oldies' again. I used to play them, but after the brain tumors and a traumatic Brain injury when my dear friend was murdered, I can't really play much any more. One of the great sorrows of my like. Nice job! Very good selections and the notations about the composer and history on the pieces were nice to see. It's amazing to me that Mozart was able to write such a delightful piece of really upbeat, cheery music at the same time he was composing such a dark opera as Don Giovanni. My only slight criticism, sorry, is some of the selections aren't the examples due to the orchestra performing. The only real places I noticed this were on the 1812 were many of the horns were too flat. That just stuck out to me. The other is the Hungarian Rhapsody in which the tempo seemed to vary wildly from performances I am used to listening to. Its funny how different the same piece of music can sound depending on the director and his individual interpretation. Thanks for your effort. I am looking forward to listening to your volume 2 tonight because, frankly, I can't get enough of this kind of music. I never get tired of any of it.
