I agree with Gino, in his words of "if your family is together that means everything" We have been blessed to travel to Morocco every year, my parents have a huge holiday home in the north of Morocco four story villa beautiful house, but the first thing my mother does is drive to her family in the countryside we call it campo because it's a camp not a well built house or riad but a simple courtyard, and she stays there for weeks on end!!

They are not new at all. Check your history. Early muslim invasion of Ifriqiya dates back to around 650 AD (which is a little bit less than 1400 years ago) and by 700 AD most of morocco was already under the Umayyad caliphate, which brought a huge wave of Arabs that migrated there and lived amongst the local berbers. History even shows that there were tensions between the locals and the arabs that involved berber rebellions and wars between the two people. So arabs were living in morocco for more than a thousand year.
