One of the great mysteries of the universe is how Henry Cho never became better appreciated - he has timing, structure, cadence, callback to match the greatest!

Wait, okay, hold on. I may sound dumb but I can't tell if he's alive or not from your conversation with the past tense nouns. I just found this guy again; please tell me that he is alive and well. 😮😅🫣 He's a hilarious, clean comedian, and I can't believe it took me this long to find him. I remember seeing him in a clip video a while back, but then I became obsessed with all things permaculture. 😂 I'm easily sidetracked.

I hate to be That Person, but that one goes back to World War II. American GI's told it to depict what they saw as the mindless bureaucracy of the Armed Forces. The original joke from WWII was about a southern boy named RB Jones who enlisted, put down his name as R(only) B(only) Jones, and was called Ronly Bonly Jones for the rest of the war.
@patzombee89
@patzombee89 5 ай бұрын
@@CrabbyOldLady I mean with a name like yours I kinda doubt that you hate being that person but hey live your peace lol. Specifically though I had Jonly Bonly on the brain for like 10 years at super random nonsense times. I'm sure there's lots of comedy that's just been adapted from old to new. For that matter I'm asking YOU who's on first. Thank you for the brief history lesson though, learning origins to things is neat

@@CrabbyOldLady Hey, I wasn't going to say anything, but yeah I read that in Reader's Digest "Humor In Uniform" back in the 60's. But like the man said, all humor is pretty much recycled, it's all in the delivery, and Henry is the absolute master.
@CrabbyOldLady
@CrabbyOldLady 5 ай бұрын
@@markloveless1001 I'm so old that I actually heard it from the soldiers soon after the war. My father served in Europe during WW2. I was born a few years later. When I was small, whenever my dad's army buddies were visiting, it was guaranteed that one of them would tell the Ronly Bonly joke. It's been recycled so well that I've heard multiple modern day comedians including a version of it as part of their routine. And yes, Henry tells it better than most.

I first saw him on a TV comedy show in the 80's. Comes out in bootleg jeans, flannel shirts and says, in a southern drawl, "How y'all doin'?" The crowd cracks with laughter. "You're probably asking yourself: There's something definitely wrong with with this picture?" The crowd hit the floor.

I'm American. I'd met a Canadian boy as a child, and we were penpals for years. Fast forward a couple of decades, and I met some Canadian arobatic pilots from the Snowbirds team while at a party in Carmel, California. I told them that I knew a Canadian, and they asked who that would be. I asked the flirtatious pilot if he knew all the Canadians in his country, to which he replied, no, but he still asked for my friend's name. I told him. He said he knew him! I said, sure you do! Ha! I gave him my address and told him to have his friend write me if he knew me. I knew the instant that I saw the penmanship on the envelope that it was a letter from my childhood friend!!!
