Mr. Rodgers is so comforting that if he weren’t a children’s show host, he would have made a great therapist or counselor :)
@mookinbabysealfurmittens6 жыл бұрын
Jennifer C ...And yet, in so many ways, he already was. No matter what the children viewing his program had going on in their lives, they knew that they could turn to him for love, support, and gentle talk of tough topics that many "grown-ups" have always been afraid to address at all. They could watch him talking with other children -- children just like them -- and know that they're not alone. And that, so importantly, what they feel is actually normal. We could watch his program feeling safe in his wisdom and song, and could trust that he was honest, loving, and truly genuine, without judgment or shame (just the opposite)... even if, for too many children, he was the only one in their world who was. Not a warrior, not a king, not a rock star. These are not great! Fred Rogers was a great man, truly the epitome of "heart and soul", love and empathy and understanding. Humanity lost a piece of its soul when Fred Rogers passed away. But his memory remains, and I hope it continues until we as a species are long gone.

There is nothing embarrassing or unmanly about honestly expressing one's feelings. Sometimes people think that they have to be tough, and there's nothing really wrong with being tough, but you don't have to be tough all the time, only when toughness is called for. I never watched Mr. Rogers when I was a kid, but recently I’ve gone through a very hard time. I realized just how horribly abused and neglected I was as a child. The realization was awful, it was more pain than I could have ever imagined, and this lead to me some of his shows. The first one I watched, Daniel Tiger sang about feeling like a mistake and it felt like all those years finally came crashing down and I just sobbed as I continued to watch, feeling more seen or heard than I have in all 17 years. I feel truly appreciated by this man, despite the fact he’s gone. I feel more love from him than my parents could ever give. Feeling truly loved and appreciated after feeling like a worthless monster, rejected by the two people who are supposed to love you the most is easily one of the purest, most raw emotion I could ever feel. What he ment with the gift of silence is, when youre silent you will find your inner peace, and your heart will open up. If we gave a man like Mr Rogers the power of president.. That may be the very first time to see true world peace.

Mr Rogers neighborhood was/is as much for adults as it is children. Mr. Rogers, a child of god, who understood the nature, and the truth in humanity. You can hear the divinity in his speech, and see the light coming out of him. Truly a child of god and led a life of service. Today there is a segment of this country that would call this beautiful spirit a groomer or some other sick and hateful thing. Rest in peace ❤

Man I'm 31 years old hearing Fred Rogers still make me tears up. This man is certainly needed today with the pandemic still rages on, Russian invasion in Ukraine, wealth inequality, authoritarianism and hate speech the list goes on.

Mr Rogers always looks like he was in top shape. It's a shame the surgery procedure he went through did not go well, and the surgery was the main cause of his death.

So he died from a colonoscopy to remove colon cancer? Dang. The same year, Lynne Thigpen (Acme CrimeNet's The Cheif from _Where in The World is Carmen Sandiego?_ and _Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?_ PBS game shows based on the edutainment computer games, as well as Luna from _Bear in the Big Blue House_ from The Jim Henson Company & The Walt Disney Company in a collaborative effort), died of a brain hemorrhage.

Fun fact: he tried to stay at 143 lbs because those are the numbers of letters in "I love you" he was so pure

He had stomach cancer, not colon cancer. When he had surgery for said cancer, they thought they had removed it, but it came back and he passed away a few weeks later.
