This wave started in mid-2000s according to wikipedia, but it exploded in 2010 I believe. But the most important thing is that Synthwave is timeless, so we'll have synth anthems until the cars can fly, or people live in other planets. It all depends of us.

This music reminds me of being a wee boy in the mid 80s, watching the best cartoons ever created (jayce and the wheeled warriors, M. A. S. K, transformers) just loving life, this is what the future sounded like. Unfortunately even though technology has surpassed my expectations, we haven't yet ended up in the utopia I imagined at the time. But hey, at least I have this music to take me back to a time of absolute wonder.
