I always thought it would take an awful lot to replace Burgess Meredith and Frank Gorshin as my personal all time favorites for playing the Penguin and Riddler characters but these two have done it. I think they have been outstanding in their roles and the passion for their respective parts really came through and helped make the show more entertaining.

You seem to dislike the ship and thats fine but it was supposed to be canon. Also Barba was made ' bi' because mean want to get off on seeing two women together and I see no one has issues with that. But oh no two guys like each other and its like "oh they are just friends. ' no they werent. the show writers just toyed with us with that and that was unfair. Dont just put two woman together because men will and excuse the phrasing' jack off' to it. When Ed and Oswald had something more meaningful. And yes they can love each other as 'friends' but thats not how it was Oswald loved Edward and if the show writers werent complete dicks then it would have shown them to being together even if it was for a short period of time. Dont just be for the women on women shit because its a fantasy. If characters are together or attracted should be because it works. And Barbara by the way never cared about those she was with. From Jim to Tabitha. Thats the vibe you get fine but thats not what the intent was.

As much as I can’t stand when they make characters gay, different races, or genders, these guys are like Bonnie and Clyde. It’s a pretty cool thing they do with the show because it’s not shoved down everyone’s throat as a political message. I wouldn’t go as far to say they are romantically engaged, but I think that the penguin and the riddler working together is a phenomenal choice to grow the story past the individual stories of the villains in Gotham. Anyone else agree? Again, I’m not big into the woke Hollywood message, but I think the way they handled the penguin and the riddler really showed the dynamic of their characters

I wouldn’t call it “woke” necessarily, I feel like that word should be used exclusively when referring to political correctness for political correctness sake. The way the producers handled Edward and Oswald in this show definitely wasn’t that; the writers merely took advantage of the allowance for LGBT inclusion to explore a more complicated, rich character dynamic you wouldn’t normally see on TV. It felt like the genuine, tasteful representation this world desperately needs. Yeah I’m a bit sore that they didn’t end up as a couple at the end of the day, but I honestly can’t be mad when they gave us such a beautiful character story.

Saying that, Batman is inconsistent as a franchise; every time a new piece of official media comes out, the producers have a tendency to tweak the characters/story to make their own alternative versions. something that fits their vision. I think it's important to keep that in mind when discussing what's canon and what's not, especially in a franchise as old as Batman. Remember, the only reason Batman's remained relevant throughout the past 70 years, is because the universe/characters/technology/lore, etc; is constantly being altered to adapt to the tastes of the current generation. That's not a bad thing though. It's just how pop culture survives, pff.
