You can tell that the more he learns about Drill music the more he feels bad for how black people live in the ghettos...it gets depressing when u realize kids are shootin guns before they get a 1st kiss

Yeah but he also popularizes it along with other KZbin channels. Let's stop treating people who kill people over some stupid lyrics as if they are a subculture that keeps it "real." They are kids that take the music seriously and and up dying over it. The media has been glamorizing criminal culture for a long time. Why do you think you have California and Chicago gangs in New York like fucking franchises. We've basically got one of the most popular genres of music on the planet that is based solely on selling drugs and killing people. Whether the rappers themselves are in that life is irrelevant, because kids believe it as the gospel and go out and shoot someone over it. And what is sadder is that people are going to act like me and other people who point this out are being the assholes not the people killing people, robbing and selling dope.

There's a lot of nuance to the whole situation. People need to be held accountable for the messed up stuff they do, but I know that all of these young men need strong relationships and opportunities. This is my burner acct but im a producer trying to make some bread so i can give back to the culture that i appreciate and want to see grow. I know its not my place as a white dude to act like black communities need my help, I know they don't need anyones help, but I want to see everyone successful and healthy. I want to help these young men rise above, and i love that music is a vessel for that. Much love to all of my red blooded humans, we all deserve opportunities and the chance to live happy and normal lives. I hope in the future i can make a big difference in my community

I'll never forget when I was a teen, I was in a mental health group home, and this one young Hispanic kid joins the unit I lived in. 12 damn years old, had severe back pain and an extreme permanent limp because he got shot running drugs on the streets. Good kid, too, just got trapped in the life and thankfully got out before it killed him (I hope... this was nearly 20 years ago, and I have no idea what anyone there has been up to since). A few years ago, I lost my weed guy when he tried to hit a lick and got shot. Again, not an evil person at all, just caught up in it and made one fatally bad choice. All this to say, I appreciate the reiteration that there's nothing aspirational in these stories, and they're all symptoms of a completely fucked system built to "sort itself out".

Very true, you start to respect these guys for being able to play the cards they were dealt. Some people grow up with a silver spoon and a college fund savings. Other are just trapped in a gang war zone. Met plenty of gang bangers ALL of them were cool well mannered and respectable dudes. Nothing like how Hollywood or the media try to make em out to be; hard asses who kill innocent people and sell drugs. They’re normal people like us just with a different lifestyle.

you still have choices in what you're doing to make money, drugs is a very broad term. if you're flooding your own environment with crack and smack, why would i feel sorry for you? i got to live around that shit too... i'm glad those people were beaten out of my area, seen enough people give their souls for that shite.

You earned a follower back by that bit at the end acknowledging the impact racism had on gangs and the community. To add, it's a fact that there is a direct correlation to the crime rate and unemployment rate. If they really wanted the violence to stop in places like Chicago, it's as simple as providing gainful employment, ie. Restoring all of the well paying factory jobs that got outsourced

Yo TL. That undercover government run reddit had me rolling haha 😂😂😂. The US feds did an operation where they set up a so called "encrypted message service app" or something like that then leaked it to drug dealers that the feds can't get into the messaging system. Over time people actually started using it while the feds where watching the whole time. So don't be surprised cuz the police are looking for sure even if they're not running it

r/LegalAdvice was slowly taken over by cops. Like this is confirmed, all the mods have comment histories talking about being police, and they would constantly both give bad advice, and delete comments critical of police, including threads that sought advice after being mistreated by police. So it's not far fethched. there has to be at least one detective in CPD that checks the sub regularly.

it is a fine line between appreciation laughs, and mocking laughs, i think you do an admirable job walking that fine line. so carry on. You did make a passing comment about how you think that gang culture and racism are related that i needed to address. It is imperative to remember that these two things are as connected as the Ventricles of a heart. The governmental policies that led to these entrenched areas of poverty were intentionally created by white supremecists, as a way to extend the subjugation of the oppressed african american peoples who had been recently freed from bondage, and this isnt some radical leftist idea, it is the unfortunate, and inconveient trurth. and i appreciate you highlighting things like structural racism in this case you are describing the practice of red lining, which led to the segregation, and lack of proper services in the vast majority of moderate to large size cities in the usa, but also the other root causes of our current situation, just please remember it isnt that the communities need "help" what they need is to stop being actively hurt by the government. they will thrive in the face of insurmountable odds, if the government would just stop actively allowing and perpetrating abuses. I just thought i would try and help you understand our crazy situation....

I saw my best friend get shot in the head when I was 16 years old. I was and still am traumatized by that and a lot of other shit that I have seen. I sold drugs from age 12 til I was 30. I have been to prison, that shit traumatized me as well. I still fight with addiction, from 20 years of self medicating, just so I can get past the memories that haunt me and try to have a little fun or hell, even just to get some sleep sometimes. That life is not glamourize by any means, it is destructive. I am blessed to have made it through all that shit and have a decent job now and trying to move on with my life...anybody else struggling like younger me struggled, I am here to tell you, that living is cool, growing old is cool, working a 9 to 5 aint so bad...I made it out and you can 2. Brother @TrapMoreRoss let me say something as a African American Native and African American Studies Graduate, don't ever apologize for speaking about the perspective you see in your research of Chicago and world Drill music. Especially when you are talking about systemic racism and its long term effects. I am not from Chicago but I lived and taught there for 7 years and all that you say is true. I never met famous Drill scene individuals but I have witnessed first hand the effects of growing up in Chicago as an African American. This needs to be discussed on a larger scale to try to effect it for the positive. I'm a musician, I try to use my music as a platform. Its awesome to see a White Male Ally, do more than just say, this is cool or this is bad. Providing perspective as a white male in this situation could encourage someone watching to try and help who may live in Chicago, may not be black but may have access to resources, people or finances that can provide some level of therapy, education for this pandemic. Thanks
@roooooin
@roooooin 2 жыл бұрын
This is a breathe of fresh air take we don’t see much, unfortunately I must add. It’s that perspective and the simultaneous recognition/acknowledgment of the potential plus calling shot for what it is that keeps me coming back to Ross’s channels. And why I have a lot of respect for him for just keeping on doing his thing even though so many keep ridiculing, cussing him out, hating etc. Just for being the white dude that somehow is not allowed an opinion or perspective on it for that reason only. It’s why I don’t ever even bother bringing up anything remotely opinionated or speak on any perspective, all I get is told I can’t .

That video where the man was told he suffers from PTSD most likely, as soon as he started with "Can I go to London with you?" my heart broke, like you can feel the pain in every word. The man may not cry anymore, but the sorrow of that lifestyle is forever imprinted in his voice. The more I learn about the gang wars around the US and other nations, the more I realize how little I knew. I'm from up by the US-Canadian border in New York, the closest thing to a gang would have to be the Indigenous people's reservation in Hogansburg (mind you they don't play games, but they're not organized as a gang would be, rather just a community where even when shit gets real everyone is willing to help/be a part of it if needed), but them screets are 150x harder and more terrifying then those boys on the rez

You should really do a reddit video of NYC drill section cause some of the stuff that on there is pretty interesting too and you'll be amazed what you'll find for your next upcoming video #TrapMoreGang

The intro to "Love Sosa" by Chief Keef. I've seen that clip before I think, but I always wondered where it was from when I first heard the song.

I lived for 10 years on the Southside just outside Englewood. The worst thing that ever happened was I was pumping gas one time and got jumped. They tried stealing my car but I always took out my keys when I pumped gas in the hood. Some gas stations are hangouts for gang bangers…kind of even run by them..

Lol shoutout to TLR man. I've been on Chiraqology since January 2019 and I've seen a loooot of hate towards TLR but really he advances the culture. Despite what people say, I know a lot of us on there appreciate you and your content.
