In the last 50metres of all these races everyone looked as if they were dying except for Van Niekerk

Wayde van Niekerk changed the game for Champions for many years to come. Gone are the days of American Hollywood Style showboating arrogance in victory. Hopefully forever. In came quiet confidence with humility in victory-- ushered in by Van Niekerk to replace those braggards , and with it, respect that will endure endlessly. I hope he will stay injury free to go sub 43 in 2021 or 2022. Wayde more than most makes me extremely proud to be South African .

Well said Stafford none of that arrogance that so many sprinters and other athletes display.

5:50. Look how he just suddenly speeds up. The fact that he has that much left in the tank is amazing.

Yes, I noticed it too. I suspected he was playing the opposition but couldnt until now saw him visibly do just that. He seemed to run at 90% and if the oppositiin is still close at the end, floors the pedal and he is in front. Amazing...

Wayde is slowly coming back to his best. He ran 20.11 in March 2021 in South Africa in a 200m event (he even slowed down over the finish line). He still has a sub 43 in him! it was clear in the race that He could run easily sub 20. He had a relatively slow start then from around 80 to 180 showed his explosive power and acceleration. It is in his genes and it looks like he is getting over the mental side of the ACL injury - running with more freedom and without fear. Something last seen in his 400 and 300 world records. Watch him at the Olympics. This might be a prophetic warning: "Watch out world record, watch out sub 43....

But this year he is slower than london and beijing races he won gold,he needs to improve on his fitness to win gold at Paris 2024. His competitors Zambrano,Gardiner,Makwala, etc are going to give him hard time to stand on the podium. His time at World Athletics continental tour in Jamaica was slow,he needs to run sub-44 but anyway congrats this time should have won him a bronze at least at Tokyo 2024.

What i have noticed about floyd is that his technique seems to be strenuous. He looks like he is straining when he runs, look at how he breathes. I feel like nature gave him immense talent, which is is enough to propel him to the top 4, but he needs the proper technique to complement his talent and carry him to first place
