It works on grenadier gauntlet and and the rumbler two. ....Also side note why did I leave a comment about my beloved mk IV cleaver here. Even before the update I liked the MK IV Cleaver and still run it with slaughterer and chained hit toughness regen. This thing clears hordes with a H2 and L1 combo and always did. It wasn't as strong as it is now due to the bleed buffs but they make every melee weapon better. And just like you I used to and still run a ripper gun with the Mk IV Cleaver. I saw several other comments pointing out the Bully Club Mk I as well because it allows you to 1 shot mutants and many other specials/elites with a charged heavy 1 and only crushers and maulers needing two..

Understand that on paper the Mark IV is great but I feel much more confident in pubs in maelstrom with slab shield and the ability to assist the team, cool video though!

I prefer the Mk III Cleaver, with the Slaughterer blessing and the Heavy Hitter keystone with the node where five stacks increases your attack speed by 10%. You get really solid DPS out of light attack spam, and your light attacks refresh the duration of Heavy Hitter. Just keep an eye on your toughness and work in a few heavy attacks if your toughness is looking a little low. I've also invested a lot more into the top of the skill tree.

@@cykablyat6348 how? mk4 light attack combo is plain single target attacks. The heavy combo is identical to mk3. mk3 light attack combo are wide swing, easy to deal with horde without dying of old age untill they bleed out. mk3 also has better dmg against armor on heavy attacks (which we are using anyway). The light attack single target combo of mk4 is pointless, as ogryn doesnt have talents that benefit light attacks. In the end i use mk3 against armored enemies and bosses. Against multiple enemies i use Lorenz Mk V Kickback with Pierce blessing. Just bashing them. Bash on weapons counts as heavy attacks. And talents that affect heavy attacks - affect bash too. So you just slam your gun against enemies and they bleed. And stagger. And Pierce blessing removes hit mass, so you can slam your gun against multiple armored elites, knocking them over and bleeding them all out. And you dont need to swap weapon for shooting the gun. Just shoot.

@@nemesisnidhoggr1468 you do push attack - heavy 2 - light - heavy 2 - light etc or theres other ways to get to the loop, theres also the weapon switch canceling to heavy 2 but i dont know how effective that is. bleed is way too strong right now, makes breakpoints for everything way better and benefits the huge cleave on the mk4, heavies on it are pretty fast and the weapon does way more dmg to carapace and maniac, single target is better while horde is better too, without bleed (gunlugger i guess) the mk3 might be slightly better at horde clear. you just dont know how powerful bleed is right now, in maelstrom 5 bleed ogryn with mk4 will outdamage assail psyker with infinite assails

Toughness on chained hit is the best for this type of playstyle. If you also have the toughness of heavy hit talent, you literally can out-tank the damage from the plague ogryn. I would also recommend getting flak damage, and carapace damage. Milk got it wrong, you don't need infested damage, because you will literally outtank and bleed kill every single poxwalker anyway. Mark 4 Cleaver 25% flak damage 25% Carapace damage Toughness on chained hit 15% power after special attack hit I run this, and honestly? I carry every damnation run I go on right now.

mk4 is really nice now. up there with shovel and mk1 club for best ogryn melee weapons atm and it can really be paired with any ranged option in ogryns kit. don't see much point in can opener on the mk5 given that the knife does massive damage to carapace now. You could probably sack off both toughness regen skills for just confident strike, but i think the regen on single heavy might be good for melee dives and i wouldn't want to give up that 25+ toughness node.

On talents if you go down at bruiser you gain +15 toughness, but if you instead go across just about you gain +10% toughness damage reduction, surely thats more valuable? You can either have: +65 toughess and 30% toughness DR or +80 and 20% toughness DR? I guess its a question of how the extra DR stacks with the bleed DR? like additive or multiplicative?

If you haven't yet, try out the Mk1 bullyclub which is in my opinion the ogryns best weapon. Also heavy hit build, can solo any monster , elites with ease

Out of all the bully clubs, mk III is the best to me. Exceptional stagger makes up for the lack of damage... That you compensate anyway with bleed stacks. Be it against elite or hordes, no melee enemy can hit you. It even creates breathing room against deamonhosts, so you can sustain their damage to solo them in damnation. Plague Ogryn and Chaos spawn can get Perma staggered with slaps (which is not only good but also hilarious), I only struggle against slugs... Which I kill with one ammo clip, using point blank dakka dakka mkVII.

It does not beat the shield. In dps yes but not in everything at all. With shield, a single push can knockdown an entire horde. You can block bullets. Heavy attacks knock down tanky enemies like maulers. Definitely has nothing on the slab’s defensive and CC. Love your videos though

in dow soulstorm is anything to go by the orgyn in darktide would actualy classfy as a " officer" amoung ogryns being that smart.. smart enough to not ammo dump into a corpse for twiching.. and do basic teamwork all due to a cybernetic implant in there brain to boost them to something close to a regular guardsmen

Nah man slab shield forever, the bleed stacks are unreal and it has almost infinite cleave. Spam heavies against any horde and eventually it just melts. Also protection against guns OP.

The better cleave is what makes it so great. I'm pretty sure the heavy attacks on the shield can stagger multiple crushers while the cleaver can hit only one and it barely even staggers them.

made a slab shield video a few weeks ago! its quite good right now. Mark 4 cleaver has more dps against a wide array of enemies, better versatility, and a LOT more mobility. which tends to be super important in Tide games. Both are good weapons, I think a lot of high level Ogryn players would agree the Mark 4 is Ogryn's best currently

Both are perfectly capable of doing well in HItSG

@@milkandcookiesTWBut shield IS the best DPS! The heavies have infinite cleave because it follows vermintide hit logic, and the damage comes with unreal amounts of stagger as well. So not only are you bleeding everything in front of you, but you can also stagger everything as well. It's also one of the best weapons when it comes to reach, and because of that you can strike from a distance where most enemies literally cannot even hurt you. And who said anything about playing defensive and blocking? That's valuable in SOME situations, but you can literally just spam heavy attacks and watch everything in front of you die, and if you dodge around a little as well to avoid strays you will literally never be hit by regular horde. I'm actually surprised that they haven't nerfed the damn thing, i can just spam heavies against a group of crushers and make a joke of them. But then i'm an old vt2 FK main so it'd make sense that i have a sense for how to use shields optimally. DPS this and mobility that, no other weapon has the versatility of the shield, full stop, period. It's not even worth debating.

Education needed please.... I don't really get the ripper guns... What do people use them for? their range kinda sucks, would rather use my melee weapon, which seems like it can kill the same and more enemy armor types... and bring a gun with more range for shooters/snipers/whatever else i can't reach.

I don't use them either, but from what I understand their raw DPS at close range is what makes them good for melting monstrosities etc. I'm not sure how you're meant to deal with ranged mobs though, besides relying on other teammates or just being a crackshot with rocks.

With Cavalcade and another perk i cant remember the name of, if you unload the whole mag on a monstrosity at close range you should be looking to nearly kill it. very effective, also can knock down Ogryns, or shred hordes quickly

ripper guns can basically melt anything at short to mid range and can even hit far away targets in certain scenarios. They are much better than stubbers at chewing through groups of elites and shooter patrols that are unaggroed and when braced have go enough accuracy to kill spread out shooters in cover at the cost of extra ammo. Previously, a lot of people used them with can opener so you could run a bull butcher knife and still have an option to kill crushers, but now that isn't super necessary and you can double stack blaze away and fire frenzy for raw damage or cavalcade and fletchette for bleed. I'd recommend you try out the different marks as they all feel very different. Mk2 has a great braced fire that can mulch anything in front of you. Mk5 has a great hipfire for single targets and can even hit snipers at their max distance. Mk6 has a powerful 3 burst braced fire that evaporates hordes and its hipfire is great for sniping shooters behind cover at mid range.

The cleaver was already good. Was using that knife before they needlessly buffed it. They only reason people didn't use it before is most players are too bad at melee they needed to use the bull one that is just horizontal swings. it was already fine with its old light diagonal and heavy cycles and did much more single target with vertical heavy and stabs. But this isn't the weapon. its the skill tree being busted.
