just an fyi, i think a lot of people call the "little paper balling up" phenomenon from when you scrub too much as the paper "pilling"!

Baohong is quickly becoming my favorite. Arches was my #1 for years, followed by Fabriano Artisitico before the sizing change. W&N came in 3rd, but now Baohong rivals my beloved Arches. It took me forever to hear of it and purchase any, but it has an outstanding price and quality. Thank you for another very thorough review. 😊

I suspected it was Baohong, is my favorite to but I use the no artist grade (student?) coarse and love it. I’m curious to try the artist grade

No artist grade? 🤔 academy? I tried the academy HP before. I think it’s rather similar to the artist grade.

I ordered a sample pad of Baohong that has cold press, rough and hot press and agree… the HP is lovely! It’s got a nice texture… not too smooth which I prefer.

I knew it was Baohong. Haha. You should order the plain Baohong and test it against the artist. I’ve heard many people say they can’t feel or see difference and the cost is much higher for the artist. Tfs

I tried the academy before and thought there is little or no differences between artists and academy.

@@eurekawanders on Friday yong Chen had a zoom paint class and I thought I had Baohong paper and whatever paper I had was horrible. I will have to recheck what paper I took out and do a painting on Arches to compare and see if it was paper or me. Lol

Hi! Did you compare this paper with other 100% cotton 300gsm papers? I guess it would be interesting to know what's the difference between brands while characteristics are the same. Thank you for a great video! I like your approach to examining watercolor paper 👍

Thank you!! I have a few videos where I tested the papers in my sketchbooks. I don’t think I have made any formal comparison videos with other 100% cotton 300g papers. I like arches and Fabriano artistico alot but they are not as cost effective.
