these types of videos - taking one simple concept but with multiple applications (crucially, over songs) are so so valuable. Your video on melodic cells I come back to all the time. It's this type of stuff that got me to improvise for the first time, many thanks!

@louismaiden8360 thank you for watching! Glad to help in any way I can!

Also, the fact that your videos take the time to demonstrate the concept in longer form (not just in passing) so we can play along is another thing that I love.

Oh man, I absolutely love this, thanks you! It seems a much more practical way to apply all these concepts to the instrument. I’m definitely going to check out your TF course as well, cheers!

Glad you found this helpful! It's one of my favorite patterns to practice and play. Hope you enjoy the Truefire material, too! There's tons more like this here on the channel as well, so feel free to poke around. If there's something specific you'd like to see covered or expanded on, feel free to let me know!

Wow, what a great video! I'm glad I actually took the time to sit down for once and play what you teach us in the video RDJ! I like how that whole step down from the triad's 5th is literally the 3rd of the next chord, and I totally see what you're saying in that sense of "where we land is more important than playing to the changes." That is so so huge!! And my goodness, I really am shocked to see your channel is not popping off with the quality content, knowledge, sound, tab display and very soothing and kind explanations of everything that this channel isn't getting the love it deserves!! I'll start watching more and practicing what you're giving us for free, it's invaluable! I'll definitely check out your truefire course and patreon! Hope all has been well, keep up the amazing work, it's such a blessing! 🙏

@LostSoulAscension thank you so much for all the love! I'm just out here grinding away. One day the algorithm might shine it's light on me lol. I'll be here either way! Glad you're getting some worth out of the free material here! And seriously, thanks again. Comments like these really make it all worth the effort.

@@dsg_studiomy pleasure David! I think there is a phenomenon on youtube where HQ content doesn't get as much clicks and views right away cause it's like so good that maybe people put in watch later, so there can be a lag effect there, but it will eventually catapult. So I am looking forward to you getting more recognition and attracting more students! 🙌

@LostSoulAscension i love it. Thanks for the sentiment! Who knows, honestly. The great and powerful algorithm is eldritch and unknowable, lol.

@@dsg_studioright? I have no doubt your channel will be up there with Jens Larsens! One crazy channel pop off that was abnormal to me was Robby Barnby's channel where he basically made 100k subs just from his 1hr barry harris video, and had very little content on his channel. I think at the time it was his 2nd or 3rd video?

Great lesson! This can be applied to all scales. I'm going to have fun with this and implement it into my practice regimen. Thanks so much for the lesson!

@jasonpauldubeau5740 it definitely can! You see it all over the place on recordings too. I've been working on a sonny stitt transcription and he plays this pattern constantly. Glad you enjoyed, it Jason!

@@dsg_studioah I see what he means here, on the desktop version the tab gets covered by the red timer and play button when pausing while on a smartphone, the app you can tap the screen to make the play button and timer disappear so you can see the tab.

Great lesson and demonstration, thank you! But consider putting less reverb to your voice as it can be distracting at times.
