Some things have changed since this video, though most of the information is still relevant: Wound rework - Wounding a part now lasts for only 15 seconds. Once a part has been wounded, the player who initiated the wound, and any player who deals 1500 or more damage to a wound, will enter an aether rush state, which increases attack speed, movement speed, damage, and stamina regeneration. Wounded parts now no longer receive additional part damage taken. With this change to the wounding mechanic acidic +3 has slid into the mostly unused category. Something acidic was decent for was because it would be a permanent increase to part damage once a part became wounded, mitigating some of the drawback of using the perk. Additionally, taking away part damage was a benefit in some cases, as it would ensure that the uptime for the 100% damage bonus from savagery lasted much longer. Now, the window for where acidic becomes useful, even in terms of war pike builds, is a lot lower. Perks added to the game since this video was released: Technique Perks: Relentless - Increases the duration and the effectiveness of your Aether Rush state, which is gained from wounding. This is either a mostly unused or a specific use cell. In terms of damage and attack speed effectiveness, +6 Relentless provides an additional 9% damage and attack speed (over the normal effectiveness of the aether rush state). You need to be playing with wounding on your build, or to be playing with someone else who is wounding to make use of it. Its issue mainly stems from being a technique perk, as technique perks are a significant source of both damage and attack speed in builds. The same +6 of technique perk economy could be used on berserker and wild frenzy, for a 20% damage and a 12.5% attack speed boost. Pulse - Every x number of hits is a guaranteed critical hit. At later ranks, increases the crit damage multiplier. Pulse slides into the specific use category, preferably at +3. It can be hilariously strong in certain contexts, while it can be hilariously average in other contexts. Its main aspect of being useful is guaranteeing that a really large base damage attack, such as the grim onslaught special from axe, will crit. Another, slightly more niche aspect of it, comes with the hellion unique effect, which has a similar effect to pulse, and you can increase your damage output drastically by "hit-syncing" the hellion unique effect with the pulse critical hit. This use however, requires the ability to deal constant, uninterrupted damage to the behemoths to be more than just "average" for a technique perk. The perk also suffers from how it currently consumes the use of this critical hit, as any amount of damage dealt when it is ready will consume its use, even if that damage is incapable of being a critical hit, such as damage from lanterns.

Tbh Cascade +6 is a smooth transition between Iceborn +6 and flawless playstyle. The shield stacking makes up for the damage reduction and the healing makes up for the life steal, while also providing damage, perfect for a player who doesn't get hit often but doesn't want to lose a revive steam each the game decides that "roll won't give invincibility frame this time"

I have to disagree and say icebourne is still better. Cascade rallys on the lantern hold witch means to be effective you need atheric atunment (AA) 6 with in turn would be 4 slots wasted Iceboune you only need 3 (2 if you use upgraded boreus pants) slots, 2 slots for icebourne, 1 for discipline witch keeps icebourne in permanent state due to discipline capping health to 50% and icebourne only triggering at 50% this means you have an extra slot witch is a huge game changer because it means more builds are possible. In short, there's a reason icebourne/discipline builds are meta along with predator/discipline builds if you don't want icebourne. Classic builds would be any ledgenday weapon (cunning 3/overpower 3) Dark watch (shrowd) (discipline 3) Boreal resolve (boreus) (icebourne 3) Torgadoro's brawn (torgadoro) (put any power cell here) Boreal March (boreus) (cunning 3) Any lantern, I normally take drask or shriek depending on my weapon (any utility cell) This gives 6+ cunning 6+ icebourne 6+ overpower 6+ rage 3+ discipline a power and utility cell of your choice. It's absolutely devastating.

You could do ur exact same build but replace cascade for iceborn, the only diff is that you will deal more damage unless you die

@@thomasb5307 there's must be a reason cascade isn't meta and icebourne/predator is. I myself use the build above witch is used as a meta trail build, cascade heals are on par with parasite and that's about 5 if memory serves where as Iceboune is about 7-8. The only reason I'd put cascade in a build is to get the invincibility shield witch is a rare drop baring that it's to random to be reliant in my opinion. Don't get me wrong play what makes you happy there is no right or wrong way I suppose it's more preference

@@The-Spanish-Inquisition490 Iceborn is not meta, and has never been, the only meta there is in Dauntless is for trials, and nobody would pick iceborn for trials. Iceborn has been historically used in escalations but since the escalation tree revamp, you basically have a cheap version of iceborn included already, meaning unless you are super bad or play a very underleveled weapon, iceborn is not needed either. Right now, iceborn is used only in hunting grounds because you dont have unlimited supplies of potions, but even then, the only purpose of iceborn is to keep you alive, technically speaking any perk that does this same job is at least equally good. Also, bear in mind that cascade is a recent perk (released in mid february of 2021) so like, any build that is older than 3 months will not mention it. That being said, a lot of experienced players have switched from Iceborn to Cascade, but if you want to rely more on outdated tierlist it's up to you ^^

@@thomasb5307 I think you'll find it is and has been. Icebourne is used as a meta for upcoming players while predator is used at end game trails meta. Cata is complete trash and slows the fight as you not only have to be lucky on drops be that from getting what you need or other players ninja'ing them but you also have to stop fighting for a second to run around and pick the orbs and they're not even hat strong the only strong orb is the shield with again... is a rare drop witch is why players use atunment for spam. Again, I am not here to tell you what to play! If you find it fun by all means play cata but it's not meta, look at any big duantless streamer literally none use it. The aim is to kill as fast as possible, so why on earth would I play cata and kill behemoths in 2 mins when I can kill them in 30 seconds (baring trails, and cata is still worse)

This video was great, I was able to learn a couple things even though I've been playing for over 1 1/2 years. I WILLL say, however, that I think it would have been nice if you actually went into what the weapon unique effects are the way you went into the perks, or at least flashed them on screen. It seemed like you started by showing the full tier breakdown of all the cell perks and then the armors, but then just didn't bother doing it with the weapons. It might be helpful for new players to know *why* one unique effect is better than another. Aside from that, as I said, this video is fantastic and I'm really enjoying your content and am glad you're so consistent in pumping out videos.

I played from the day Dauntless dropped till about a week after Escalations came to the game. Just picked it back up about three days ago and this helps out soo much. I was mostly a higher...ish... tier player, and could deal with any of the hunts. I was trying with Escalations but never completed one as I was unable to get dodging down and didnt end up with very good teammates, so I tried to solo my way through both bosses at the same time, but unfortunately, could not hold my own well enough. This video has given me a lot to reconsider on most of my builds, and I highly thank you for the information.

Love the content. Been watching your videos for a while and its always up to date and relevant! Always my favorite Dauntless content creator. Great work! As a Dauntless player, I'm close to the "end" of Dauntless being a high level player before Reforged patch(acquired all cells and aethercharged all builds on Day One). I hear alot about the "Trials Meta" and was just wandering if there are specific builds per behemoth on trials that are dominating to top 100 and what they might be. I'm looking for a gold crown now considering I now end the season with Hunt Pass Level 350+ and am looking for help in this area before i jump in to the competitive scene. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks for the video! That's a lot of detailed information about many topics that we can't find in game, VERY HELPFUL. some remarks ... 1) Power perks actually start at 8:07 instead of 7:52. (nice summary of topics with time pointers!) 2) Something that you may stress for newer players is that breaking parts actually gives you extra items that are unique to that part and that monster and are needed for equipment. Usually tails are harder to break due to: - A.I. always trying to face you(hence the tail staying safely away from you). - Tails being unique - 1 per monster unlike limbs that are 2/4. This is also especially true for legendary gear, where you get only 1 chance per escalation to fight the boss and if you don't break the "rare" part you don't get that item, so the whole run can be a waste if you need to craft legendary gear and your teammates are hitting random parts. 3) Regarding your comment about evasion being useless, it's good for beginners who don't know the behavior of monsters and get hit more. I used it a lot while getting familiar with the game. Also it's probably the only useful battle-related perk in that category that can be used with repeaters where you are forced to choose that category. Now I'm looking around more power/attack-based perks, although i'm stll not confident enough to use predator.

Best items in trials: Discipline and berserker cell, Avenging overdrive, Twin Suns (if you like repeaters), Repeating onslaught, Executioner's spearhead, reckless leap, Momentum blades (works best with boreus weapons), tactician's magazine, and thats pretty much everything good in the trials shop

had an argument with some people on reddit because i told devs to remove mobility cells from the game since the game really isnt build around running faster. Even recently the Urska armor pieces seem mostly useless because they are locked to a mobility cell slot which is the same problem with the armor they buffed by removing status cells like warmth but ended up being useless since they mostly had mobility cell slots.

This definitely helped knowing what to aim for. It'd be interesting to see what the best options are for new players coming into the game; since progression has changed so much, and Reforging makes you directly lose power to upgrade a piece of gear (at least until we get the update to Aetherhearts being "craftable"), selecting the right weapons and armour is vital for new players, and there aren't really any guides on progression with the current system. Early on, players don't have access to Hellion, Riftstalker, Rezakiri etc, and "builds" really only become relevant once you have a full upgraded gear set. Should new players even care about perks? What armours/weapons are "generally" good? Should a new player just craft the best armour/weapon for the specific elemental type, or just focus on perk eco early until they CAN make "end game" gear?

Yeah, this would be my biggest complaint with Duantless is that there is no reason to focus on anything but damage and focusing on damage is so boring compared to actual creative build crafting.

They removed them from armor pieces, but you can still apply those perks through cells

Wait, so If a create a tier 1 weapon and use power surge It'll be a tier 6 weapon? I don't need to farm these hard monsters that equipment tier 6 requires?

Not sure if I understand the question. Power surging will take any piece of equipment to tier 6. Doing this requires an aether heart. To get an aether heart you have to reforge a weapon, by getting to level 20. So you will have to farm higher level behemoths at some point for experience to be able to power surge your gear, since you can only gain experience on behemoths 5 levels lower than you & above that

I thought that the first weapons you create are lower-tier versions of the higher-tier versions, that requires more difficult monster to forge, but they are different weapons, right? For example, the tier 1 fire weapon is a completely different weapon from the strongest fire weapon, not just a lower-tier version of it?

You can find shards in patrol chests, but the main source of them is playing hunting grounds events. You gain shards after every beaten wave. You can also find some shards in daily login bonus core. But shards don't drop from just killing behemoth

I'm very new, just got Elemental Mastery or whatever it's called, and I was wondering if I should focus on matching the element of the behemoth I'm fighting or just making a good build. I play sword and don't have trials unlocked. What should I do?

Try to match the element the best you can yes, but a good build of a particular element will be fine even if you don't have the advantage. I'd recommend working towards a frost build with a pangar/urska weapon, as blaze behemoths are rather easy to farm for weapon experience levels.

Nope. Literally one of the most viable off-meta builds uses shields to up the Crit rate of weapons to 100%. It does this by using Skarn weapons to produce the shields and using Tenacious to increase Crit rate based off of said shields.

how to get cascade cells besides urska helmet and chestpiece?

You can get Cascade Cells to slot into your armour through opening Cores which you get from the events which periodically happen throughout the Hunting Grounds islands or sometimes they are in the Middleman's Cell store rotation.

@@eric224leaf Yes, unfortunately. In the future, they may create missions that reward you with Cascade Cells, as I remember they might have done that with Catalyst. The RNG in this game is notoriously inconsistent with cases like these being common. Before the Reforge update, I was farming for a single Epic drop from a Boreus. I hunted so many that I actually got the Heroic Dye and still didn't get what I was looking for.

Why not Shell of the Swarm? +3 Bladestorm (Specific use perk) and Technique Cell Slot seems to be useful in a build

A little creative criticism here is that next time you should not blur the background when the graphics are on screen. At least I feel like the gameplay is a good way to relax your eyes when you are looking at all of the stats. The blurring makes it just slightly harder to watch as it is jarring when it is switching back and forth.
