Honestly I haven’t seen the P&R look so beautiful until I saw Jokic and Murray do it in last year as they destroyed my lakers
@milosjovicevic60839 ай бұрын
I've been watching the NBA since ' 88. The best pick and roll ever is Jokic - Murray. Primarily due to Jokic's incredible sense of space and his unreal vision/assistance. Another thing, Jokic is literally by far the most accurate basketball player ever between 3-10 feet + top 10 ever between 10-16 feet. Third Murray when he gets fired up is unstoppable. Plus Jokic makes a lot of smart blocks. And they still have a bunch of variations in the pick and roll extension.
@dre32pitt9 ай бұрын
I'd argue the Steph/KD PnR was up there too.. Truly pick your poison with the best shooter ever and one of the best shooters ever.. We only got to see 2.5~ seasons of it though, but GS never really spams PnR.. They broke out the Steph/KD PnR in the playoffs.. Crazily, it worked best when Steph was the screener lolol.. Talk about gravity.. Jokic is amazing and one of the best bigs ever, imo, but he doesnt have, nor command, that level of gravity.. And with Steph, you gotta pick him up at the hotel before the game.. you've seen the clip, lol..

Unless this is just brown as the initiator and porzingis as the pick guy i dont think you explained thier duo as well. That more tatum/porzingis. Brown and porzingis is two fold were jb eats off drives & midrange while kp gets lobs mismatch postups and open 3s. But there is another dynamic where jb is either the pick man or uses kp body to have kp defender screen jb man and jb cuts off that. Its been alot of kp assist on jb cuts this yr basically taking smarts role

I like watching maxey and dame because their style is very similar and dame is one of my favourite players ever. I think why the guan is and dame 2 man game hasn’t worked is because of giannis limitations as a spacer and he doesn’t have the lower body strength like Embiid to set good screens to distract the POA defender.

Watching Lillard his entire tenure in portland, he always love a solid screen set and a little late roll which allows him to attack the paint. Giannis for some reason rolls early and surprisingly sets not solid screen (compared to guys like nurkic, adams, adebayo, jokic)

It's insane, because the play is still MONEY! That shows you how high the ceiling is for Giannis and Dame playing next to each other. Dame if he just hit his career average in fg% would be averaging 27 a long with Giannis' 30. Team is something like 20-2 when Dame hits at least 26. 😳

Giannis couldnt shoot his way out of a cardboard box. It severely handicaps any pick and roll potential
@smgyro14769 ай бұрын
Wrong. Giannis rolling to the rim helps free up defenders from his pick and roll partner in question because they have to prioritize stoping him getting to the rim compared to other options, and if he gets better at setting physical screens and rolling consistently rather than popping out the three point line like he does at times, he's only going to make that play more difficult to guard because he's the most lethal roller in the NBA. If you choose to try and stop both, there's a bunch of great three point shooters surrounding them (like Beasley and Middleton) that'll be open. Giannis just has to stop remaining still when screening and try to roll constantly instead. Also even if you sag off of Giannis and try to contain Dame because you're not worried about Giannis taking a three, that just means you've given space for Giannis to pick up steam and go downhill which nobody can stop.
