The BEST PLANETS For Building A Base On In No Mans Sky 2023!!

Deciding which planet to build a base on can be complicated in No Mans Sky especially as there are basically an unlimited number of planets. It's also important to note that different types of bases are better built on different types of planets. In this No Mans Sky beginner guide I will go over which planets are the best for building different bases on and why they're better.

Don't know if anyone else feels the same but I really like building a base on an extreme planet with sentinel threats and resources. It makes me feel like the base is more necessary for survival than for looks. For example my current base is on an extremely hot planet with sentinels "requiring obedience". Feels very cool to hide away in my secure base with a massive worm leaping over my building, watching volcanoes erupting miles away through the window and escaping sentinels. Gives me Dune vibes lol. Tropical planets will be a less exciting holiday in comparison 😂

for a main base I tend to look for a planet with no extreme storms (and comfortable normal temperatures), little/no sentinel activity, and in a 3 star economy system. I don't think it HAS to be a Lush planet to fill these requirements, but most of the time it is. great video as you seemed to have covered how other planets can be useful for other types of bases!

I built a flying base over a trade outpost lol also built a Donut Tower base with a flying base above it and underground base under the donut and a massive garage stored in the "walls" of the donut. Man i love base building! Hope for more stuff to build with soon.

I would say that the planet for a farming base doesn't matter, but it should preferably be near an energy hotspot. Build a bunch of the glass domes, so that you can collect all the plants much quicker, instead of one by one when planted on the ground outdoors or in hydroponics trays. They are a bit expensive and take power, so that's why you want the hotspot, though you can use solar and batteries if you want. Alternatively, you can build your farm on your freighter which will allow you to gather up to 4 plants at once and it doesn't take any power. Often times spamming domes doesn't look all that good, so I make a temp base just to make units while I make prettier, though less efficient, basses elsewhere.

Im new and dont really have the resources for (unless i want to just build in creative mode) a big base, but i definitely want to have my "home" base on a snowy and occasional stormy mountain. Something like a chateau

Having access to either an outpost (TOWER!) or a portal would be excellent. Other stuff: WATER 3-star economy Favourite species Blue star I, for one, would want all of the above _with_ storms - preferably hot rainstorms - but no Sentinels.

I'm personally very conflicted on base building. It sucks that we have all these terraforming tools but planet surfaces just reset after a while. This makes it very impractical to make a, say, underground base; something I'd love to do. You're very constricted to the landscape and that just sucks. We should be able to make the perfect spot with those great terraforming tools, instead of having to look hours just to find a location that somewhat looks like what you have in your mind

I haven’t had this issue with bases ever. I constantly use the terrain manipulator. Do u upload the bases?

@Virus Ok so I have this mined out cave where I built my home. I made a door in the back that leads out into a second terraformed cave, where I've placed my teleporter etc. Will that save too? Or just the building blocks

Head over to Reddit r/NmsCoordinateExchange and look for bases. More often than not the higher up voted ones have a bunch of bases on them 😊

Paradise planets are the worst planets! Why? You don't need a base to protect you. Extreme planets are the best! Lol. For extreme sentinel planets, water bases are best. On extreme weather planets require a place to bunker down and a base is that. But really you can do any. It's about creativity. Edit. Deepest water in nms is 118 in nautilon. That's in caves.. open cave if you are lucky. The deepest open water is 95u. Water is dependent on the planet.

People don't build on paradise planets to protect themselves, they do it for fun. Sure extreme planets are good for protection but it's not the be all and end all of base building

I have one.. although it has srt over 300u.. 6 of them.. that's why it is still here.. that can't be done outside a PC mod now. I enjoy watching vids by none builders to get their perspective.
