This video has my humble endorsement. This is pretty much the same technique which I have used for over 50 years and never fails. The past few years I have been using a dedicated popcorn pot which has a crank mechanism with wire stirring arms which keep the corn kernels agitated in the oil and help prevent burning. Works great and can be purchased at any purveyor which sells 'old time' cooking gadgets.

You've inspired me - I'm buying a jar of popcorn at the grocery store tonight! Can't wait to make it again the way we did back in the 70's. :-) I remember making batches, putting it in paper bags and going to the drive-in. Good times...

You forgot to show the best popcorn secret of all. Storing your unpopped popcorn kernels in jars with a few drops of water in the fridge. The kernels take two weeks to slowly absorb the humidity ready to explode better and with less husking or unpopped kernels. No need to buy the expensive Dr. Redembachar popcorn in the jar. You can uses any cheap bag of popcorn and they will behave like the expensive stuff. Just keep storing your popcorn in the fridge in tight jars between uses.

I make my popcorn just like that...! Then I eat it with slices of apples... a handful of salty buttery popcorn, then a bite of sweet juicy apple.... then repeat... over and over again until finished. YUM!

I put the butter and salt into the oil and as the popcorn pops each kerrnel gets a does of the salted buttery goodness. No need to melt the butter and and salt latter.

i prefer very high heat. put the oil in first get it really hot then put the kernels in. they explode fast. no need to shake the pot and they turn out fluffier due to lest cook time on the kernels

you should try putting the salt in a magic bullet or something (thats what i use) to make powdered salt, you can get a more even coating without using too much.

I've never had this problem. ONly thing I can think of is to use real butter and just drizzle over the popcorn. Don't saturate it. Also I've found the quality of the popcorn kernel itself makes a huge difference. Hope this helps you out and thanks for watching and trying this out.

Are you sure that you are using real butter? A few years back, I used a margarine butter substitute and experienced the same problem you describe. Try using the real stuff and you may have better results.
