I might try this. My b&w p7 headphones (any headphone really) just doesn't not have the volume output I would like from either of my Samsung USB c only phones or tablet, at least not compared to my older phones that had an actual headphone jack .

I have really enjoyed the THX Onyx with my iPhone. Great sound. I use several different headphones. All good so far.

Was seriously thinking about getting the ONYX but first, would like to see how it stacks up sound-wise, against the "slightly" more expensive new Chord Mojo 2.

From a sound point of view my guess is that you wouldnt be able to discern a difference. Id look at the power ratings and match that against your headphones. And the Mojo 2 really isn't as portable so if you need something for travel I like the Onyx (and others of the form factor) for that use case. I love the wonky look of the Mojo though. I want to try one out.

I'd be using either in my 2 channel listening setup instead of headphones but you've definitely piqued my interest in the comparison of the two even more now by saying that I may not be able to tell a difference in SQ. I'm definitely a tube and tone control guy as well, so the Mojo 2's EQ has me chomping at the bit to try it out. Btw, loved your Vincent Audio separates review a few months back. Deciding now between the Vincent SV-737 and the McIntosh MA352. I know, I know... Lol!

Thumbs down for Promate lightning adapter- bought one for use with Dragonfly Cobalt it’s lasted just a handful of weeks and no longer charges the phone. Have to take it back for a refund and will go for the more expensive Apple adapter.

Not convincing enough to buy. The btr5 has balanced and bluetooth and its cheaper,let aline the btr7 is out now and alsi cheaper with balanced and bluetooth.
