This is perfect! I didn’t realize I was doing everything right 😂 I am keto and fast with OMAD. after a workout I have my one meal (dinner) I always have a lean meat with tons of veggies and sprinkle MCT oil on my veggies. Sometimes I’ll have a half of a seeet potato if I feel like I want it. After dinner I eat Greek yogurt with berries for desert. I have maintained my low weight and I feel amazing! Never feel deprived! 😉👍

This is how I see it: 1) After a very strenuous workout: proteine (shake) + some carbs (hot baked potato/fruit) 2) Post workout low carb: Proteine (plant based proteine or whey proteine) + 1 scoop MCT oil powder. Option for 5 ounces cold potatoes or (rasp)berries 3) Post workout for recovery or 50 + (age): Proteine (whey) or proteine with a little bit of omega 3 fats (salmon) + carbs (baked potatoes + (rasp)berries) 25-30 g
@CarbageMan

IMO, there's no point in "plant based." All you're likely to do is rob yourself of EAAs.

On needing more protein and fewer carbs as we age, I always observe how old people here in Switzerland never refrain from doing the exact opposite of what their bodies need when they go grocery shopping: hardly any protein sources in their carts, but plenty of slices of cake, croissants, ice cream and other such garbage instead. I actually often ate like them in my early twenties and always felt like crap as a result.

Would love an answer to this question. I used to eat tons of Thrive potato chips cooked in coconut oil with himalayan salt. Always wondered if these potato chips qualified for the cooked-then-cooled potato starches that are supposedly beneficial.
@CarbageMan

Show us the potato chips that don't have healthy oils-let alone none at all. You could try microwave potato chips stored in the fridge. I tried that for a while. It didn't seem to destroy me. The thing is, you don't want fat at that time-let alone unhealthy fats.😉

Heated starches does not actually break them down into individual glucose molecules. Instead they are disrupted from their crystalline structures to form a starch-water network and are quicker digested by our salivary enzymes to indictable glucose

Take advantage of being insulin sensitive from doing a workout fasted by eating lean protein, but there's no reason to go crazy with the carbs. I have a post-workout low-carb shake with EAAs along with lean meat. Then an hour later, I can have a keto meal. The shake has more than enough carbs. I used to include a rice cake, and I didn't really see the point.

I realize I'm 2 years late here but hopefully someone can help me out. I'm confused. Maybe I misunderstood something but I thought depleting glycogen encourages lipolysis. If that's correct, then why would you want to replenish glycogen through food? Wouldn't you be better off to not eat post workout so your body replenishes glycogen on it's own by breaking down fat?

On a 100% carnivore diet ppl tend to stop getting sore. Talk to Dr Anthony Chaffee What made you go the carb route instead of focusing on gluconeogenisis? The body makes all the carbs it needs at all times when adapted. Adequate Protein kicks you out of ketosis and it is supposed too because some amino acids feed into gluconeogenisis. Let protein be turned into carbs......no?
