The BEST Preludes for EVERY Corp in Terraforming Mars!

With Thorgate I think that the best choice is steel production because most of the power-hungry cards (cities, magnetic field generator/dome, strip mine, physics complex..) have all building tags, so if you add a good steel amount to the cheaper power production, you can get a pretty good combo. It makes no sense to pick power production preludes because you already pay less to increase power during the game so the preludes would be redundant. Preludes are strong when they compensate a weakeness.

Good catch! Mining Operations or Metals Company combo really well with Thorgate!

the same argument about Thorgate can be said on the other side with Mining Guild: it's a waste to get even more steel if you can easly produce a lot of it in the game, it's a better combo to place a city or forest in order to use the corp effect, or to take some energy for the same reason about building cards that need to lower your power. Consequence: these two corps maybe work very well together if you play with merger! What do you think?

@@mars4ever i have only once played Merger and that was with Poseidon and Saturn Systems. These didn't combo particularly well but it was still fun to get MC prod all the time :D Thorgate and Mining Guild should really combo nicely, that's true. Playing cities with steel and cheap power let's you control the Board and get a nice economy. But both of these corps aren't super strong and you'd need to draw well to make it work.

One idea for a future video : Now that merger exists, you could talk about the best Corp combo for it. On top of my head : Point luna + phobolog Mining guild + factorum Ecoline + Helion There are probably more broken combo but I did not look out for the best yet

@@marsexpert4276 in case you want some experience with it I guess you can set up game with merger set as a prelude for everyone on the unofficial website (nit sure as I tested it only in a solo game but should be for multi too). Theory discussion could make a great video though as there are quite a lot of combination possible. Thank you for your work. Waiting for next content you'll create here

1:16 Does the wild tag work with Jovian tags? As I read it does not work with jovian tag points at the end of the game.

Wild tags only count as a tag of your choice while you are performing an action, so no, they do not count towards, Ganymede Colony, Water Import from Europa or Io Mining. But they do count towards Terraforming Ganymede and enable you to play Beam from a Thorium Asteroid, two high impact Jovian cards.

Awesome video! Have you thought about creating a video describing strategies combating each of corporation? I have not seen any strategy guides about what strategies and cards are best when facing different corps. For example: UNMI tends to prefer a shorter game so trying to prolong the game is best, VITOR wants longer games so terraforming quickly is important, hackers absolutely kills Robinson if Robinson is not prepared with money production, take plant killer cards if playing against Ecoline, etc.

@@sidsche3734 It's a version of TM you can play through the browser. Has all expansions, a rebalancing of some OP/UP stuff and fan expansions. Just google rebalanced mars and you'll find it :)

It changed a bit since I made this video over two years ago :D I still think it's a solid engine prelude, but whenever you're going for a rush, there are much better ones out there!

The steam version of the game does not include Venus Next (yet). You can play with all expansion either via Tabletop Simulator or the TM Webapp.

The problem is that you need that animal card as well. And of the 4 base game 1-point animals, only 2 work, because for Preds you need a target and for Birds you'd need someone with 2 plant prod. If you play with promo cards as well, Penguins is probably the best one and then you have 3 candidates. So yeah, if you get ecology experts + a usable 1-point animal, that's insane. But I was talking specifically about Preludes that work everytime, no matter your starting hand.

@@marsexpert4276 I think that is so strong they still were talking about + it can work with animal cards and microbe cards that are worth one point for every 2 it’s not as good but it’s still gonna score you a good 10 or so points. I have done Viren with eco-experts with livestock and Miranda to trade with and that is going to be 90 points.
