Yup, I heard about this pressing from Andrew too and I picked up the 45(red label) 👍👍 clarity and punch !! Why this wasn’t dubbed for the newest set is beyond me.

First time I ever heard PLEASE PLEASE ME was on a ricket-y school bus, early one morning, blaring loud on the bus' speakers over kids' annoying conversations and the vehicle's clankings. I was in 3rd Grade with no idea who sang the song - but it knocked me over & sent me into kiddie-ecstacy. "C'mon c'mon" As close to a sexual experience that a 3rd Grade boy could have. I have the 45 someplace in my apartment.

That one is a 1963 pressing as it does `Not` have the "Sold in Subject" text at its centre. Its most likely from between February to July 1963.

The best is 1963 Mono (black&gold) but since most of us can’t get this, the 1977 Stereo on Apple Records - Electrola (Germany) is the cleanest copy you can get nowadays (if you can find a near mint one). This pressing is made from the original stereo master tape from what I’ve heard, and back then the tapes were still pretty fresh, it sounds the best imo.

I wanted to mention,Brian,that the Canadian 45 might have it, but also the VJ 581 45 might as well,as the master plate for that 45 was the same used for the 498 pressing,issued in Feb.'63.The master tape used for the 498 single should've been the same mix as on the 4983 Parli red and black labelers.

Both of my copies from the 1978 UK singles box have the -1N cut. “Andrew from Parlogram” said the 1978 press from the -1N stamper sounded “less compressed” than the original 1963 UK -1N. Not sure how this could be ( a stamper is a stamper, right?), but I compared with my 1963 Please Please Me and… I agree. To my ears, the 1978 -1N has more presence. Check your “Twist and Shout” EP… delta mono vs. the twin track mix on the PPM LP, sounds very dry & present.

@@richchannel-1311 I believe once the delta master was gone (destroyed, misplaced, erased, etc) they then went to the 2 track master and cut the single from that. That’s my guess.
