First chessboard made from oak and epoxy with pearl and blue pigment with sea shells. Second chessboard made of oak and epoxy with pearl and green pigment with pine cones added and LED.
Chess pieces are also made from epoxy. DIY.

Incredible! Love this!! I made my own set 8yrs ago. Hand carved all the pieces, padded the bottoms of all pieces with Lamb skin & leather, built a 4.5" tall Board w/Drawers inlayed with black velvet, standing on hand carved Lions Paws.... but YOUR BOARD is Next Level sir!! Sooo Impressed AND Inspired!! Makes me want to make another!! Lol. GORGEOUS Work sir, absolutely gorgeous!!

Ah cool, I made a floating chess board last year using ceramic tiles and epoxy in an oak frame. Worked great apart from finding out I didn't seal my frame tight enough to stop some leaking.

I was trying to figure out how there were two different colors coming from the LEDs in regard to the boarder and the field of the board before I remembered that the mica color in the boarder was filtering out some wavelengths. Very cool board and I will definitely be making something similar for a friend (who's been waiting patiently for like 3 years).

The pinecones don't really do it for me but they're still aesthetically pleasing on their own. Just think some crazy epoxy swirls and some LEDs would've made it pop. Fantastic work 🙏

A tip for you to square up your frame when gluing instead of using 2 set squares you can measure inside corners diagonally and adjust until both are equal

Amazing! You got my wheels turning for one of my own. Two questions.. Does the epoxy suffer from surface tension when poured to the top of a bounding frame? Like create a little arc to the surface it’s framed into. How did you light the inside different than the border?
