The templates you suggested look clean and professional. I might check out other options like Resubot for quick formatting.

Dear Greg, thank you very much for the video. A year has now passed since your video was uploaded. Has anything changed with the template or are you still using it? I'm thinking of buying one. Which one do you recommend at the end of 2024?
@greglangstaffcareercoach22 күн бұрын
I'm very much still using this template and it's one of my go-to's! My 2024 template (template 8 on my site) was the most popular of 2024! I am planning on releasing a few new templates in 2025 so stay tuned :)

Hey Greg, awesome video! What do you think about having the right length? A lot of people and also HR managers tell that 1 page should be enough. I know this also depends on the kind of job-level, but wanted to know you take on that
@greglangstaffcareercoach10 ай бұрын
2 pages is the sweet spot. I haven't heard the one-page advice from anyone who actually does hiring so I'm not sure how that myth has been circulating. Maybe at entry level, one page would be fine. Just remember, you have to keep them reading so as long as what you're including is interesting and impressive, they'll keep reading onto page 2.

Your video is excellent. Thank you for being concise and straight to it. I've watched I think 912 billion resume videos. Alright maybe it felt like that many. I'm thinking gosh I love when the video hasn't fuc$ all to do with resumes and rabbit Trail with it all summed up by telling you to ask chatgpt to do it. So thank you for your video. Outstanding! I have a very particular discipline and I'm still idk just having a hard time figuring out what to include, what's relevant, how much do I include about skills relatable ..ect. If I where to go into detail it would be staggering. I am able to teach and instruct my profession to professionals Which is rough because I've turned down several Jobs recently, the places that ask I research and then decline. I'm in such a bizzare yet uniquely disciplined industry and the salary potential or in my case typically contract Is nearly uncapped. I just need to get my ass doing what I know inside and out. Prior to this I have always sought out smaller companies but now the market is changing in this industry on a monolithic scale and I just can't sit on my hands anymore. Anyway thank you for your video.

In this video, I share what I've learned about creating a standout resume. I've found that a clear title, summary, and a focus on key skills and achievements make a big difference. Prioritizing job titles, company names, and locations, while omitting dates to avoid age bias, is key. Adding sections for technical skills, awards, and volunteer work also helps. Tools like Jobsolv have been a game-changer for tailoring my resume to specific roles, greatly boosting my chances of landing the job I want.

But why would they care about location of the job? And what if the company moved half way through your tenure? Would you add both locations?

@greglangstaffcareercoach thanks a bunch for this insight! I got this template today and am looking forward to getting it completed. My question is - I'm in the tech industry and attended some college but did not complete my degree...instead, I got technology certifications which landed me my first great job over 20 years ago. What do you feel is best for me to do with the "Education" section? Would it be bad to ditch it and list my certifications instead?...or should I attempt to complete it knowing that will transparently show that I did not complete my degree? Much appreciated in advance!!
@greglangstaffcareercoach13 күн бұрын

People are saying tables break some ATS scans. Is that true?
@greglangstaffcareercoach Жыл бұрын
This is not true. A table will influence the order in which the content is read and that can mess with the scanner's comprehension of your information if you're relying on it to read the table in a certain order. That's why I only use them for simple lists of skills like this that will make sense in any order :)

Downaloded the Resume but it doesn't have the Professional Summary you mention in the video.
@greglangstaffcareercoach Жыл бұрын
Sorry about that. I typically go with the career highlights section instead. You can just rename the Career Highlights section "Professional Summary" and you should be all sorted out :)

I wonder why you always mention successes in numbers on your CV? It is clear to the recruiter that the applicant made something up. And you can't document or demonstrate success in every job.
