The Roku express let me keep my CRT TV. It's almost 20 years now, with 2 large speakers on the side, 28 inch and having the true black feature. You tell me which is the best? P. S the TV is to heavy to throw away, so that's the reason I'm keeping it xD

I have an LG OLED and a Roku Ultra. The Roku is great, but it doesn't support Dolby Vision, so I often use the LG's builtin Netflix and Amazon apps because they support Dolby Vision natively.

I had the Express which was free with a Sling TV tryout. Wasn't at all pleased with wifi performance as I couldn't get 1080 performance on some channels. Oddly Netflix was just fine and never an issue. Didn't know if it was the Express or my crappy wifi. Anyway, got rid of Sling(hideous) and got KZbinTV and purchased the Ultra. Wow, what a difference! Besides a much better remote, I got high def on channels I was having issues with even without connecting via Ethernet which was my main purpose in aquiring the Ultra. So, still on wifi, love the phones and TV controls on the remote and it's all good. About to get rid of cable for good.... it's so damn boring with that text driven interface and kinda surprised I'm so satisfied with KZbin TV. Just love its graphically orientated operation.

I have a 43" TCL Roku 4K HDR Tv, and it is great. The entire interface is amazing, even for the inputs of the hdmi ports, antenna tv, etc. It has the regular remote (no voice control), but does include ethernet/wifi, and leaves the other HDMI ports open for things like my chromecast, which is great to have just in case.

Wireless will always leave you hobbled at some point. Stick with wired and you'll have the best, consistent service. Especially if the wireless router is in another location in your home.

If you have a 4K and Ethernet get the Ultra. The Sticks are slower and subject to too many quirky Wi-Fi issues.

Apparently the "Smart TV" has never come out. The Big Kat recommended the Samsung TOC 52" and my Plasma that I still have. 4 other much more expensive new TVs and A 4K projector with my favorite 4K Ultra Short Throw projector. (not because of his usually spot in reviews) The Roku is in my "Dumb TV" Samsung which, is still going strong since 2007 and tweaked beautifully. This is the only reason to own a Roku. I don't know what 4K TV isn't "Smart". THE BIG KAT STRIKES ONE MORE TIME! Shear testosterone ;)

How hot does this device get? I have had to take apart the first gen units and add a massive heat sink to keep it from crashing. They run great now.

I can only receive very slow dsl internet. I bought the Roku Express to Broadcast from my smartphone to the tv. I was very surprised when the Roku actually worked with my 1MB internet. I admit I have to put up with some buffering from higher quality broadcasts.

The Ultra is your best bet! the sticks and the expresses will fail! sooner then later! One, the onboard wifi will within a year or less will go out on them! I think it is heat related due to such small area. Also, the ultra has memory, which over time you will need, due to the fact those at Roku load their streaming devices down with so much crap ware that they become so slow, they are useless, so you will have to buy the newer models. Roku's 1 and 2 models are prime example of this. It takes forever to load the apps, and when you do get them loaded and start to watch a movie, say on MoviesAnywhere, once you get the movie started it plays fine, but minutes later the movie starts to buffer! and either will not start again or you wait forever for it to do so, and this is with only 4 apps, I deleted all my apps except for 4 to see if it would speed it up, and results was a big NO! Why is this? Because like I said, those at Roku load the streaming boxes down with so much crap-ware, that it eats up the memory, they did this on purpose, to make the older streaming devices unusable, that way you will have to buy a new/er box/stick to play your apps. This is a way to screw us the costumers, out of our money, and put the same said money in their pockets! They are crooks! But I am not here to tell you how to spend your money, just giving You a heads up! The choice is yours! Regards!

I just purchased a roku express I was surprised it was faster then my roku 3. The problem with mine is it lost the wifi connection and never would reconnect. I did a factory reset and still no connection. I hooked my roku 3 back up and had no problem. I sill think roku is the best maybe I just got a lemon.

When I tried to set up thi Roku Express, it refused to be connect to my Wi-Fi, and I got a message that I had to add a MAC address on my router. I spent 2 hours on the phone with my ISP about this. They finally did get it done, but I still get exactly the same error message. Roku does not provide telephone tech support for this device. They also provide no chat room, and no email. If you have a problem, your are out of luck--it's just a door jamb. Terrible experience that lasted for hours :(

All the Roku should have USB3. Only problem is No Roku has USB3. 4K yes HDMI some yes USB2 one yes USB3 none Zero, zilch, Zip, Nil, Nought, Nothing. Every thing I own is USB3 and most of my super old stuff is USB2 which I do not use. IMO minimum all Roku units from stick to Ultra should all have a USB3 port. Come On Roku get up to speed or are you so complacent that you think you own the world and everyone just copies you.

A lot of smart TVs don’t support the newest versions of the streaming services app. I have a 2018 Sony smart tv that will not support Hulu with live Tv. The apps don’t/can’t update to the latest version in some cases. Same for some Blu-ray players. In a year or so that smart tv will be obsolete
