I think it's super fun that they're also two of the best options for defending each other in the league. Unlike some recent pairs of superstars, it actually makes sense to have them on each other during every OKC/SA matchup. This is gonna be so, so wild to watch!

I agree that Chet is also having a historic rookie season, and people don't give him the credit he deserves because they are obsessing over Wemby. I know Wemby had a much better season is a great player I just wish more people would respect chet. He is on a team ready to go to finals IDK if they will make it this year but they are good enough. Chet still avg 16 a night when he has to share the court with shai, j dub giddy dort, and the rest of OKCs stacked bench.

I wonder if the media will keep talking about the Spurs when the playoffs come around in a few days... I'm a Wembanyama fan, but if I keep hearing about the 20 win Spurs while the playoffs are going on, I might just throw my TV out the window... I want to hear about the Timberwolves and Nuggets or even the Pelicans. I'm not interested in the East though... I just assume Boston will be in the finals and probably beat Minnesota or Denver.

Perhaps the most fascinating thing with Wemby is how strong his pullup 3 shooting is compared to catch and shoot, he's 123-382 from 3 overall for the season (32.2%) but 61-161 on pullup 3's (37.9%) It's not exactly high volume by any means but it looks like a positive indicator for his shooting potential.

@@musiciansmomentumofficial I like the guy, so I hope the comment does get stinky in time, and I agree there is a decent chance. I am a stats and physics guy (to a fault) there are some who came into NBA shooting poorly (43%) and became a good 3 point threat (usually it involves less threes), but I fear his problem is the Shaq free-throw issue, where it's not just practice, there are anatomical trade-offs to having an 8 ft wingspan or weighing 370 pounds. Once the team is win oriented, they won't let him experiment on shots that hurt the winning percentage by taking a good look from a better shooter on his own team. Same issue with Giannis where his best year longball was his first year, then he learned he was effective in transition and his FG% went up and up and up, as 3 pt dropped

I go with what Damien Woody of ESPN said about Wemby and Chet after a game they played: You’ve got 2 aliens nailing crossovers and step back 3’s. OKC had Aleksej Pokuševski who was basically Chet Holmgren without the decision making ability... and he was basically useless to the Thunder. When they got Chet instead he was instantly able to be plugged into the starting lineup and within the second month of the season he was already a big piece in OKC beating the Nuggets, Celtics, and Timberwolves. So the competitive drive and decision making ability was basically everything. The difference between being a G-league player with 'potential' and being trusted enough by your coach to be taking the shots when there is 2 minutes left on the clock and the Nuggets are leading the Thunder by 2 points.

It's funny how often I've heard that Chet and Victor are what the NBA is going to look like going forward. I mean, yeah, if you can find 7 foot tall hyper skilled athletes, you should probably sign them. But it's not like all the previous 7 foot defensive monsters with guard skills were just getting shut out of the NBA for no reason. It's that there weren't any, and there aren't likely to be many more. The future of the NBA looks a lot more like Anthony Edwards and Jalen Green than it does a sea of 7 foot Kyries or slick shooting Kareems.

The Magic/Bird comparaison couldn't be more accurate. Both of these duos faced each other before being in the NBA in a Finals, one was drafted one year prior to the other, the both represent different kind of cultures but those differences don't mean anything on the court because competitivness overcomes all of that, and they are both incredibly skilled and unique basketball players. I hope this rivalry can last more time than the one from Bird and Magic.

I can see Chet being the archetype for the future NBA big man. A 7' that can handle the ball and shoot from distance might become the norm in the future. The reason Wemby can't be an archetype is that at 7'5'', he is somewhere between the 20th-50th tallest PERSON on the planet. Not just as a basketball player, but among ALL humans. There have only been 9 players at his height or taller in the entire history of the league and most of them got injured really bad really often and had a short unproductive career. He is literally pushing the edge of what's possible for a human's anatomy to be. The whole "Alien" thing is not that far off from how extraordinary he is. So even IF suddenly every 7'5''+ guy on the planet developed the elite coordination and athleticism needed, you would still not have more then 5-10 extra players. And that's a big IF, since the NBA already pretty much has every person with that height that can somehow dribble and run more then 10 minutes on a roster somewhere 😏

The Grant Hill/Jason Kidd duo in 1994 wasn't that bad either: 3.0/3.8 BPM. They were co-Rookies of the Year, which was a first iirc.

The two of them will be all time greats at a minimum. Whats upsetting is we didn’t highlight wemby getting gortat screened under the basket and reaching over the screener to block a layup.

Vic's shooting since Christmas has been comparable to Chet's. He had a terrible first third of the season, and it's still dragging his numbers down.

Man it must be tough for Chet to come in the league, have a banger of a rookie season, but doing it the same season a once in a lifetime talent is making his debut too. Hopefully he can rejoice with the playoffs coming.

Chet brings the ball down to his waiste on like every catch and shoot. Most of the league does this now. Can you talk about this? It's clearly effective but a 7 footer bringing the ball all the way down sacrifices time and ball security.

to sum this up, Victor is Chet's daddy?=, Victor has to be ROY and DPOY for this season. Rookie season and he will get a lifetime contract with Nike, he already is toying with NBA players i mean him faking the drop coverage just to block the lob pass is next level IQ for a rookie already understanding how he's gonna manipulate offensive players to make a decision quickly, forcing them to a turnover
