I am the destroyer of scope caps. So far ive busted 11 sets off my go-to AR with its PA 1-8x ACSS scope. Most were cheap caps, the ones that come from PA, Butler Creek etc. Ive busted up a Vortex as well, so im looking for something solid now, maybe even aluminum. Might have to give these a shot. Thanks for the info.

Great video, great explanation, etc. The only thing that detracts me is the amount of effort it seemed to take for you to push that front cover open. My left hand is significantly disabled now so I need a "quick release" function that still seals well. Great short info though.

I see they offer a Killflash/honeycomb version for larger objective lenses. I'd love it the offered one for the 24x for my vortex razor hd gen 3, 1-10 x 24... But I'm wondering if the razor gen 3 ones they make would fit over the tenebraex killflash ard/tenebraex makes for the razor hd gen 2, 1-6 x24 (working on confirming if this is compatible with gen 3), if so I'd love to use that killflash with these covers over it.

I think they are better then Vortex but they are too loud. Vortex Defender covers are made to be almost silent and that can be very important at times. Besides the Vortex are really really durable, and to boot the rear cover is made to hold a bullet drop compensator custom made card by Vortex for you for your exact rounds specifications for easy quick review. Vortex also comes with a life time unconditional guarantee. And they sell for less they half the price of Aadmdunt. I will have to admit thought the Aadmdunt are extremely well made and they will have a market for those who have to have the very best with out reguard to cost. I like Vortex because they off a lot of performance and value at reasonable prices and unless you are going into Afghanistan or the Congo to kill terrorists, their products are more then most civilian hunters will ever need. It was interesting to see the Aadmdunt though. Thanks for uploading the video.

There not bad but I went to the Swarovski ones, magnetic, no pounding on. Or pushing hard to open. But more you open and close some tend to get loose. But I did like them till I got the other ones.

I honestly dont think these are overpriced. I doubt they are making much off them. Their production seems pretty small, and the quality seems top notch. That being said, i should probably hold judgement until i actually receive mine. Hopefully they dont take forever to ship em out for me, i feel that if i am spending over ~1200 for the optic, to have anything of much lower quality than this protecting the lenses seems a bit foolish. But i do some pretty dirty shit to my gear, so obviously needs vary. Anyway, thanks for the upload. Just got the Tikka in and absolutely loving it edit: for future reference i ordered mine when they were listed as 'back ordered', however received them 4 days later. Dunno what to say other than WOW. The quality of these is so far beyond anything else i've ever encountered in scope caps that there is literally no competition. That being said, i dont know how i would feel about taking these hunting. They are pretty noisy when opening, however i have found that with a little technique you can lower the noise by a good 80%. Still not silent though! Just something to think about. In the end, i think these are 100% worth the ask price, no questions. They may not be perfect for everything, but what they are designed for, they are perfect.

@amorphousgear2085
@amorphousgear2085 3 жыл бұрын
I'd give it a 1/4" for sure. Don't get bent out of shape on how close your scope is to the bore. It's really not a big deal. Just make sure you're comfortable when behind the gun and your eye easily lines up.

This might be a dumb question but do they allow for fast focus (the diopter) adjustment to be made with the ocular cap on? Do any flip open caps at all allow it?
@amorphousgear2085
@amorphousgear2085 2 жыл бұрын
You should only adjust your diopter one time for your eye.

i might have tended to agree more if one, the vortex scope i was putting them on wasnt $2500, and two, if i didnt have to replace my front defender THREE times due to it have ZERO retention when brand new. As in, the cover would not stay closed under more than a slight bump against it. Then in contrast the rear was so tight that it would pull the cover off the scope when you tried to open it one handed. I love my razor, but the defenders i got were absolute garbage. Just not even remotely worth the risk of trusting the protection of someone so valuable to something so inconsistent and unworthy. Luckily i found these randomly on the hide. Hopefully they dont take forever to arrive since they listed as backorder. Basically, you arent wrong haha, they are pricey, it really just depends how much you need to trust them. To be honest, i almost see the defenders as more overpriced at $40 than these at $100. Kinda like their $60 throw lever

Why the fuck do you need to have caps on in the field? Just be careful with your gun sheesh. Trampling through deep bush thick enough to worry about scratching your optic is just gonna scare the game away. I only put them on for storage... Seriously folks just don't use caps. Problem solved.
