amazing video, please more educational commentary like this against some of the harder matchups too please, XLB videos are good but hard to mimic his playstyle 1 to 1 love that you posted a game where you miss the E and kinda mess up level 1, most of the ekko games I watch has near perfection execution from the early levels

Yeah XLB is the Ekko goat. He was making it work when Ekko mid was weak and now that Ekko is in a good spot he is dominating the KR ladder. Might do a video on him at some point. This build feels best when you are snowballing because it's just raw damage. If you are even or behind I would recommend going rocketbelt second because it's cheaper and gives you survivability and deathcap is your third item always. Hope you enjoyed the video!

I was wondering what u think about lb>shadowflame>rabadons instead of the chinese lb>nashors>rabadons. Why is shadowflame worse than nashors even tho you get 30 more ap and flat pen plus the crit passive. Is the bonus attackspeed really that good?

I haven't tested shadowflame much but from my experiences the crit isn't actually very useful because it only crits on enemies below 35% health and the crit itself only does 20% more dmg which doesn't make a very big difference in fights. The bonus atk speed from nashors allows you to finish off targets who survived your burst while also amplifying your E dmg and has good synergy with HoB allowing you to hit passive even if you miss Q which is why I think it's really good for Ekko since hitting passive is the most important thing as Ekko. The cdr from nashor's is also nice, you just get more spell rotations in fights. I think those aspects of nashors makes it outvalue the flat pen and ap from Shadowflame (not to mention its 200g cheaper as well)

just to add since i tested both before: even tho shadowflame has 30more ap and pen it's more expensive and does only abt 30dmg more in basic combo burst (obviously nashors will do more after passive/with HOB) but shadowflame does more burst post deathCap. so unlike last szn current shadowflame outscales you can take it as a personal preference but IMO getting cheaper item that does same dmg in burst and also synergizes very well with HOB, gives you access to deathCap faster is better. at that point i don't think ekko needs any dmg items other than %pen. i always buy tank/utility item last(rocketbelt, banshees, abyssal mask, frozen heart) i could also just be addicted to nashors attack speed LOL

Pretty much. Stormsurge got nerfed. HoB is better in most matchups (Electro better vs yasuo and sylas) Also ban akali

xlb never e trades into tf early, do you know why that is? He often even starts q and lets tf push. (a bunch of his recent videos are vs tf)

Yeah I watch XLB religiously and I think both approaches to the lane are fine. It just depends what you are playing towards. This game since TF had no tp so I wanted to trade a lot early to force him to take a bad recall (although I failed to do so lvl 1) But if he has tp and instantly starts pushing the wave, start Q to match his push. If he doesn't push, start E because you will have a lot of time to try to kill before the wave crashes. The problem with starting E against a (good) tf with teleport is you won't be able to kill him before he crashes the third wave. Then he baseports and will have item/health lead but you can't baseport because the wave is pushing to him. This will lead to him getting a big cs and xp lead over you if your jungler/supp doesn't come to help you crash the wave so you can recall without losing minions.

@@sco1369 I'm more than happy to respond to any questions! I'm glad my explanation made sense! One more reason behind XLB's playstyle might be due to the jungle and support matchups. Some games you just won't be able to play very aggressive because enemy has Zac Nautilus and you have Master Yi Senna. I don't really talk about this in my videos because it doesn't really matter until masters+ but maybe I will in the future

So... when to pick electro and when to pick HoB? I played against AD TF today (i had HoB) and he totally demolished me. I used tp to my advantage, tried to freeze but whenever i tried to engage him (i waited for him to use his W on wave to do that) he just autoed me to death. He got mercs and i legit did no damage to him 😅

HoB is good Vs immobile champs like tf, syndra, orianna, corki, etc. electro better Vs mobile champs like sylas and yasuo. Some notable matchups where HoB is unexpectedly good is against Katarina, leblanc, and yone. Hopefully this video helped with the tf matchup!

Isn't Nashor's kinda unnecessary if enemies are squishy and you don't do a lot of splitpush?? I mean in that case you don't use the extra attack speed

It has really good synergy with HoB allowing you to hit passive even if you miss q and makes your EQ-AA combo practically instant. Also gives CDR which is nice and gives you sustained dmg/dps which is Ekko's biggest weakness.

@@TPW_1I’m a tryndamere mid main and I’ve had a Indentity crisis trying to find a mid laner who fits the old itch of hull breaker tryn lol , I tried 40-50 mid champs and none of them stuck onto me except ekko something about his ult and scaling is insane and nashors ekko makes me feel like I’m playing a lite ap version of tryn w way more burst

@@goldenmemes51 I think you have the wrong idea if you think ekko is a splitpusher. You can play him as a splitpusher if you are giga fed but in this szn magic res items are so op so you cant win side vs literally any bruiser. ekko is much better in teamfights if you understand how to play around his w. Ekko is more about diving backline, he is an assassin after all
