One of my fondest memories of my first trip to Japan back in 2012 was holing up in one of Akiba's Sega arcades and waiting out Tokyo's notorious rush hour by playing Golden Axe and Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara. For a brief couple of hours I got my teenage years hanging out in an arcade back. Alas, when I finally returned to Japan in 2019 I found said arcade had removed most of the retro games that I loved, and I couldn't find a Golden Axe or Shadow Over Mystara cabinet anywhere in Akiba or, indeed, anywhere in Tokyo. That upset me more than it reasonably should. Still does.

I have to ask, are those capture and crane machines so popular and constantly used? To be so overwhelming with multiple floors dedicated to them. Whenever I see shots of them it seems kind of empty. I’d be walking straight to the good stuff.
@epicon63 жыл бұрын
The crane machines attract families and couples and kids to the arcade and yes the machines are in good use and many spend 20-30 USD trying to get the cheap toy, so it's pretty cost effective so they don't have to have all machines constantly populated. They also carry many limited edition toys that are only available there.
