One of my fondest memories of my first trip to Japan back in 2012 was holing up in one of Akiba's Sega arcades and waiting out Tokyo's notorious rush hour by playing Golden Axe and Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara. For a brief couple of hours I got my teenage years hanging out in an arcade back. Alas, when I finally returned to Japan in 2019 I found said arcade had removed most of the retro games that I loved, and I couldn't find a Golden Axe or Shadow Over Mystara cabinet anywhere in Akiba or, indeed, anywhere in Tokyo. That upset me more than it reasonably should. Still does.

@@grubby05 I'm sure last I heard about the Bury place is that they moved all the best games to the new one in Leeds, which I've not been too since you know what happened not long after it opened, but Bury was the best place for arcades in the UK before at least. My friend told me about that Bar in brum, not been there either but it looks and sounds cool, saving my cash for the digbeth gaming market though, I hope to get a dreamcast :D if not a couple games I've been after will do.

I have to ask, are those capture and crane machines so popular and constantly used? To be so overwhelming with multiple floors dedicated to them. Whenever I see shots of them it seems kind of empty. I’d be walking straight to the good stuff.
@epicon6
@epicon6 3 жыл бұрын
The crane machines attract families and couples and kids to the arcade and yes the machines are in good use and many spend 20-30 USD trying to get the cheap toy, so it's pretty cost effective so they don't have to have all machines constantly populated. They also carry many limited edition toys that are only available there.
