My wife and I have leased/owned 6 Hyundai vehicles since 2007. Tires, brakes and batteries besides regular scheduled maintenance is the only money that we have put in them. Currently have a 2013 Elantra Gt with 104k still looks great and drives excellent. Hyundai has come a long way since 86 with the Excel. I just purchased a 2022 Tacoma TRD OFF ROAD 4X4 MANUAL last year for myself...hopefully it will out last me....being 49...I'd say 40 more years...maybe more if I'm lucky..lol I'll buy the wife another car here soon though. But she really likes her Hyundai.

The older Hyundai/Kia - 2005 thru 2012 or so - are fine. Once they went GDI, reliablity really tanked unfortunately. Tremendous engine problems with them in the past 8 years or so in particular. Family member has a 2008 Santa Fe with the 3.3l V6 and it's just been wear-item maintenance (and valve cover gaskets lol). Runs smooth, great power, 200k miles on it now.

Bought a Tacoma in 2010 before I retired traded in my Ford ranger after owning 4 of them and constantly having to repair them every year . I still own my 2010 Tacoma the only thing I had to fix was a F/R wheel bearing hub .I moved from N.Y. to Idaho and she runs great .

The reason Honda and Toyota have such reliable cars is that they pay their suppliers enough that they can make both reliable parts and a profit. I still remember General Motors bragging that they forced their suppliers to lower their prices so much every year or two. The suppliers will cut costs (often quality) until they can still make some profit.

I also own a Toyota car that is over 20 years old. It still runs smoothly, covering a daily commute of 90 kilometers. I find its condition normal, fuel-efficient, and the replacement of parts is easy and cost-effective. I believe it can easily last another 5 years. I owned 2 Chryslers back to back 2003 Chrysler 300M 130,000 miles had car 17 years, replaced shocks and struts never rode same, O.E.M parts not available. Sold car 2020. Such good car bought another one. 2016 Chrysler 200C AWD I still have car 50,000 miles I have lot more technology in this car like forward collision warning. Just oil changes on both every 6 months and 2003 300M it was transmission fluid changes and coolant. 2016 Chrysler just oil changes transmission fluid change is 100,000 miles and coolant changes
