one of the most immersion breaking things I've come across while playing skyrim, is argonians heavily breathing if they get out of water... wtf bethesda
@bee_irl7 жыл бұрын
And literally every other race too, even with Volsung/Deathbrand armor equipped, after drinking waterbreathing potions, etc.
@rosenrot2347 жыл бұрын
There's thankfully a mod for that
@callumunga52537 жыл бұрын
You could justify this as them needing to empty the water out of their lungs. Certainly with Waterbreathing as alteration, it does not allow you to live without breath, but merely to breath water as though it were air.
@rot42775 жыл бұрын
It irked me a whole lot too, though someone did say you could look at it as them switching from their gills to their lungs and filtering the water out of them so they could breathe. It at least makes the inhaling less intolerable.

Why would you ever tell people to turn off the background music to increase immersion? Skyrim has one of the most beautifully composed soundtracks in the history of gaming, and many of my most memorable and atmospheric experiences were tied to the music of this game. Its a shame to tell anyone they should turn it off.
@lorf82826 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Oblivion music is great, too.
@DraiksDracula6 жыл бұрын
Ryan Hernandez, i Don't Remember Any Game i played, that i haven't turned off its music, music breaks immersion, from a point of view, people who want A Real Immersion turn it off, since music is something that is not in the game world and you want to Hear Nature, and believe me, Skyrim Nature is FULL of Sounds, Foot Steps Birds Waterfalls Mills Goats Chickens Bees Shovel Sounds People Working in the Farms and too many sounds, you don't even NEED an immersive sounds mod to hear it but still it adds to it, besides i like to listen to bards, no matter how ancient the music sounds, it wont make the game more immersive, unless your talking about the fact that you focus on the music? but if you do that you wont hear sounds from the Surroundings so better to turn it off if you want real immersion.

The issue these days with open cities isn't that the mod breaks your game, its that it makes a lot of OTHER mods incompatible, and if you try to uninstall open cities, it WILL break your game.

It's just mod conflicts for things positioned in cities really. It's not going to break your game, most likely, just make your other mods not work quite right. For example, a mod that adds foliage to a city or fixes light sources won't with Open Cities, unless it's made to be specifically compatible with it. For these reasons, I don't actually use Open Cities, but I'd still recommend it unless you know that it would conflict with other mods you have and want to use.

Regarding Open Cities; its not that the Mod itself (mostly at least) is broken or destroys save games, its because it has little to no (kinda overdramatic here, I know there are patches etc) compatibility to other mods. Mods are (if not made specific for another mod) made for the vanilla game and we dont have open cities in the vanilla game - I may be a little bit confusing here, but you should get the point.

Open cities is no doubt one of the greatest immersion mods, but keep in mind that you won't be able to use some custom house mods. I've encountered this with Elianoras Breezehome version, which was the basic breezehome from the outside and the buffed up version from outside, which also caused CTDs when using the tower trap door.

For HUD, I use Immersive HUD (hide as much HUD as possible when not needed) combined wiht moreHUD (adds tasteful and useful info you choose) and Less intrusive HUD (let's you do all sorts of custimizing size, position, opacity ect.) Oh, and "a matter of time" added in for that little extra touch. The end result is you get lots of useful HUD info, only as much as you WANT to have, and only WHEN you want it - so despite my HUD technically containing much more info than vanilla, most o hte time playing I have no HUD on screen at all. Other immersion recommendations: - Enchanced vanilla trees. Large lush custom trees not only blow SFO out of the water but also are more performace friendly. The key for immersion is the added SIZE and DENSITY. Riverwood now actually looks like it is inside an actual forest, and wooded areas feel enclosed and athmospheric. Vanilla sized trees (even with SFO) just aren't nearly dense enough. Alternatively you can look into "simply bigger trees" for use standalone or with SFO. - A closer look: Let's you add a key to zoom simply put. very customizable. Take a closer look at items, faces, or just focus in on something in the distance. Really let's a high-end custom Skyrim with lots of details come to life while you can run around an do combat wiht a high FOV.

My favorite immersions mods are Campfire along with Frostfall, Wet & Cold, Realistic Need & Diseases, Hunterborn, Convenient Horses, Immersive Citizens and Immersive Patrols, Lanterns of Skyrim, Wearable Lanterns and any cloak mod (actually using Winter is Coming). Completely disagree with disabling music for immersion. What you said sounds right in theory, we don't always spend real life with music in the background but it does something different for games, especially RPGs. When you're playing a game you don't always feel immersed emotionally, like you're detached (obviously) feelings wise from the situation and world in which you're existing... be it a battle, a walk through a town or mysterious and beautiful nature. What music does is it helps encourage and bridge real life feelings with the game creating a bond between player and character, immersing you in that situation in game in a way your emotions might not naturally. It's there to help you personally fill the role which I assume is why producers started including music in the first place. Just my 2 cents, ofc some will think differently
@VikalHimanshu8 жыл бұрын
I think Frostfall does make you believe the Skyrim world is real. Its like making the winter kind of come alive. So I think it does add to the immersion rather than just being a separate mini-game inside of Skyrim.

my understanding of immersion is modifications or new implementation to the game that fit into the skyrim scene. An Illuminaty armour for example does not any pelt and skull (of in game creatures) custom made armour does fit in. Another example would be armours that covers only tiny bits of the body to make it look sexy does not fit in as well. Now i do not know much about skyrim lore outside of the skyrim game itself, So even with that definition stuff appearing to be immersive for me would not be immersive for others since they might know the lore better or for other reasons. I am confused when i search the nexus mods page with show only immersive mods option on and i see those sexy armours which would fit into mmorpgs style games but not into skyrim. (sorry for using so many armour examples, but since i only look for immersive mods i have not encountered different types of mods that would be immersion breaking by my understanding of it)

Music in my opinion helps with immersion (besides combat music) It helps me feel the emotion my character might be feeling. Like a sense of calmness in a city, or curiosity while exploring. I enjoy "cosmetic" mods with Skyrim .. weather, environment Open Cities, Wet and Cold are a couple of my favourites. Relationship dialogues Overhaul was available for Xbox ... (I am glad I have it downloaded to my console already) here is the modder's explanation for the Xbox removal ** Yes, I have removed the Xbox version of RDO. No, it was not stolen, nor did it have any problems (everything was working as designed). The main reason why it's been removed is simply because the official plugins STILL have the incorrect time-stamps. An issue that was reported in early October during the closed beta, has still not been addressed. What am I talking about? You can read about it here: beta-community.bethesda.net/topic/625/user-generated-esm-files-load-in-the-wrong-order This is a big problem for consoles because there is no way of manually fixing the issue. And it can lead to major problems including constant crashes. On PC, we can use third-party tools to correct the time-stamps so that they'll actually load correctly. This is why the PC version of RDO is still available but the console version is not. When Bethesda fix the time-stamps of the official plugins, I will make RDO available again for Xbox.

Open cities is great, but you can only use it for a short amount of time before it fucks all your quests up. Quests in cities require a loading screen to trigger events. It'd be useful if you've completed most quest in the game, or if you straight-up dont care about your quest being broken. But very few, if not no people play skyrim without quests... Plus, uninstalling the mod just straight up breaks your entire game. It's not worth it.

The problem doesn't lie in the mod itself but in incompatibilities.. which is to be expected in a mod of it's scope and scale. Luckily the mod has a high enough profile that usually any issues are reported on either directly on a mods page or easily found in the comments/report tab

The hearts and pumpkins would totally break the immersion for me.

Open Cities still breaks a few quests. Nothing major though. So far the one quest i had the most problems with was the "shadow gulum-ei" quest.

Surprised you didn't include 'enhanced camera' or 'immersive first person' in this video. Still though, excellent list!

There is nobody different in the mod community on youtube. They always do immersive, armor, weapons, and follower mods.

Very cool video man. Are you using a mod that changes the text font?
@Fevir8 жыл бұрын
Yeah. You can pretty much just search "font" and a whole bunch of mods will pop up. I don't remember the one I am using

I don't get why you use open cities. I'd rather have a loading screen along with a mod that makes the city better, than no loading screen and the default cities.

For open cities, wouldn't your fps take a big hit since the cities aren't in there own cell?

I can't play without the sounds of skyrim mod, with music turned down all the way. you can hear kids screaming outside an playing, while organizing things inside breezehome. or the birds and bugs in the wilds. or the wails of the dead inside dungeons.
