A really useful guide and what an amazing tune you’ve got out of her!

I think this is one of the first times that I've watched an exhaust video(and I've watched hundreds) where I've had to double check that the the valves were closed! 😂 This car sounds outstanding!!!

I want to replace euro4 headers for euro3 version. Is that easy operation or its too tight and engine need to be removed?
@ShiftMotoring Жыл бұрын
It's tight, but you can do it with the engine in place

Have you dynod the car with your header and exhaust setup on higher octane? I find that mine has a huge gain in powere when I put 100 in the USA…
@ShiftMotoring2 жыл бұрын
I haven't tested fuel back to back - I still need to finish the follow up video to this which has a back to back dyno!

I have a 2002 Cambiocorsa. I just got it. It’s very quiet compared to this car shown. Does it have valves? If so how do you open them?
@ShiftMotoring3 жыл бұрын
My car is a Gransport, so it came with a valved exhaust. You can install valves on a 4200 though, but the video goes through the rest of the setup.

What would be the best year Maserati to buy for racing or sound in the older ones
@ShiftMotoring3 жыл бұрын
The latest year that you can get your hands on. there were constant updates over the life cycle, they're not like BMWs where there are big life cycle changes every few years. There are slight changes every yeah and overall you can tell the difference driving an 04 to an 07 car

amazing ino here ! im from melbourne and looking to get a gransport next week. I want to achieve the loudest high pitch sound possible. Is there a way to modify the factory back boxes to match the larini? or is there no alternative. i will get an exhuast place to do a cat delete and custom x pipe. I just dont know what to do about the rear boxes. If i delete those also i wont be able to switch to a quieter mode and also i believe maybe the note of the engine wouldnt sound as refined? would love any advice you have. Regards Pietro
@ShiftMotoring2 жыл бұрын
You can cut them open, remove the packing and put in solid piping and it will come up pretty close to the Larinis!
@huyaha2 жыл бұрын
@@ShiftMotoring you’re a gentleman! And to maintain a quiet mode using the sock valve , I assume you leave one perforated exhaust. Any steel wool as you did ?
@ShiftMotoring2 жыл бұрын
@@huyaha You shouldn't need to pack your open side with the factory muffler because it has a restricted tip and a perforated pipe inside

Did you ever remove the secondary cat and leave the rest stock to see how it might sound? My Gransport i just recently purchased has that set up but over video it doesnt sound exotic (i think when the seller revved it, it wasnt in sport mode), i have the video to show you and a pic of undernealth of the car that you can see the exhaust set up, but im looking to make it sound better. Im on a very tight budget atm, $700 AUD max hahah
@ShiftMotoring4 жыл бұрын
I've heard a few other variations and none are quite like my setup. Losing just the secondary cats makes it louder but doesn't really change the tone. Send me a PM on MaseratiLife, I'm currently selling the setup in this video and it isn't much more than what your budge is. Look up Lambertius

How did you say you can get a higher pitched sound? Does that technique work on any exhaust?
@ShiftMotoring3 жыл бұрын
A longer common section - and it will work on any V engine to varying extents.
@Sunny-s1de2 жыл бұрын
Wil it work on a 4 inline to get a higher pitched sound?
@ShiftMotoring2 жыл бұрын
@@Sunny-s1de If you run a 4-1 header you will get the 'angry bee' sound that you hear on a lot of 4-bangers.

Is the helmholtz resonator sealed on the end that points forward?
@ShiftMotoring4 жыл бұрын
It is sealed - you calculate the length based on temperature and frequency and it reflects the drone pulse back on itself. Makes a massive difference to cabin volume!

So to confirm the euo 3 version only has one set of cats? Cheers

No, it has dual cats - but both sets of cats are post headers.

Larini sound ?

Each component changes the sound, just getting Larini back boxes isn't enough.
