For those who know me well, it's no surprise that I love the Soldano sound so much. It's basically the guitar tone that made me want to design guitar effects from the beginning! Well... this one and a cranked vintage Marshall Plexi. Last year I had a SLO-100 for while that Mike Soldano was letting me borrow. I thought it couldn't get any better than that. I was wrong - Mike and the Soldano team have done it even *better* here with the SLO-30! Normally folks love the high gain distortion tones in these amps, and don't get me wrong - they ARE fantastic. However, for my style it's the lower gain stuff that I use quite often personally and this amp checks off that box like few other amps do. My friend/bandmate of 10+ years, Danny (who’s since passed) had a slo100 back in the day. This was at a time when we all thought that Mesa and Marshall were the “top of the heap”. He comes in with this head one day and it was just harmonically rich and full on a level we’d never experienced. Not only that but it was tolexed in snake skin...just unreal in every way. I’m commenting on your Video late. That being said it is very well done and still works for the classic rock people like myself and others. I went ahead with the Soldano SLO 30 in purple!! It is the complete deal unless you have to play in a stadium lol. I own two early 70’s Ampeg V-4 heads that are incredibly loud to say the least. They are not your bedroom amps at all lol. They are super clean and don’t distort no matter what. It has its place for super clean and the reverb is the best IMO. It’s takes pedals very well. The SLO 30? It does everything you want out of bedroom levels and then some. For many years I’ve wanted an SLO 100 and I could never afford them. Thanks to all the years watching Warren Haynes crank them lol. I always wanted that sound. With American Musical Supply I went ahead with the SLO 30!! It’s easier on my pocket for poor guitar players like myself lol. @bradt.35554 жыл бұрын
All the clean switch does on a Soldano is pad the crunch channel, like turning the gain down to about 2. If you put a boost pedal in front of the amp it gets dirty again. You need to boost it in the loop. I use a volume in the loop of mine to reduce volume then if I need clean I back down guitar and have a switch to bypass the volume control in the loop.

Brian, I would LOVE for you to compare this amp to the Synergy system with a Soldano amp module. I've heard the Synergy Soldano on it's own but it would be great to hear them side by side.

Micheal Soldano makes great amps. Eric Clapton put the SLO-100 on the map when he used one during his Saturday Night Live appearance. Great review. Thanks for taking the time to show the amp in detail.

Very pleasant video and I like the fact that a Soldano can be taken to Telecaster territories for tests and not only on Baritone humbuckers with mean riffs 😄 !! It sounds gorgeous on the clean and crunch channels. Would have loved to hear this crunch channel blended with a Tumnus. For such a price, they could have made a dedicated EQ section to each channel 🧐 Mr Wampler, as a metal head I came first to hear your thoughts before heading to Ola, Rabea etc this means a lot on how much respect we have for your work !!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Bogner, imo, makes the sweetest sounding amp. But no doubt Soldano is darn good.

My first amp was placing my $27 Kingston electric guitar headstock against my maple chest of drawers! Best clean tone ever! 45 years ago I bought a one year old Princeton Reverb silver face that is still awesome! Just need an overdrive pedal that does tweed to Plexi now. Suggestions?

My favourite amp? Dual rec 2 channel version... Through a 4x12 it was sonic heaven and a real trouser-flapper!! These Soldanos sound killer!
