this is actually very interesting to watch in 2024, cause i feel like we had a huge leap in improvements through 2021-22, and now were heading back into this where the changes are mainly feel, and sometimes trying some things regarless of whether they work or not (like the feet mags on the waverider, the micro-actuator on the appari, the 20-mag bc, etc) the fact that this is happening all over again 6 years later shows a clear cycle on hardware improvements: we have some big changes over the course of 1-2 years, but then we kind of hit a ceiling and every change is either minimal or experimental, until one of those experiments works and we get another leap on performance

I’m actually sure that Gan will probably be the first company to release a changing-feeling cube system. When you’ll be able to change the feel of pieces themselves but with an innovative way, like changing from the feel of the SM to the 354 one for example, it’s kinda hard to make it simple without changing the pieces themselves but I’m sure one company will release that system one day.

What if magnets were only on the centres and edges. This would result in a slightly lesser stability but it doesn't matter cause its not that unstable. It is tested by me in a GAN 356R and works fine. The performance of the cube has drastically improved. All we need is 4 magnets in each centres and 2 magnets on each edges where it meets the centres. This requires 48 magnets and I'd recommended using slightly stronger magnets. Please try it yourself.

For the in this order the best cube his: 1) Gan 356 X/ Valk M cosmic 2) Valk 3M cosmic/ Gan 356 X 3) MoYu GTS 3M For me this year, the new cube are a big improvement for the futur. With interchangeable magnet, easy and quick adjustment tension ! I’ m waiting the new Valk 3 Elite with the same system (spring, magnet)
