I use to make this all the time for different functions where we needed a huge dessert. I added pineapple , bananas, and toasted pecans too. Sometime I added shredded coconut too. You can do so much to make this your own. My favorite is just plain strawberry though. Love the way memories recipes bring back. Have a great day!

I will ask Mary to make your dessert. Son made us a fried chicken dinner and strawberry short cake!!! When he brought the food in, I asked Arvid and Mary to go to my room and listen to Pap and your Uncle sing the mother day song, I came in the room as the song end, my two kids were hugging each other with tears in their eyes, I'm that little old lady, with getting around problems. Looks amazing! I’ve been craving strawberries and a strawberry shortcake since the ads began showing beautiful berries. This would definitely fill the bill! And it’s pretty! I’m diabetic and if using an angel food cake, sugar free pudding etc and this would work for me. Truffles are such an inviting dessert. Great to take for family functions etc! They say we eat with our eyes first and I believe it when the recipr turns out to be beautiful. I love strawberries cut up in my salads! So good…blueberries too. Thank you for sharing! 🙏🏻💜

I grew up making Angel food cake from scratch in MO. Moved to Memphis and the humidity stopped that until I found the cake mix. Still using the cake mix 50 yrs later. Love a good trifle.

I have a tube cake pan that was my great aunts. She was my grandpa's oldest sister. It is a large one for angel food cakes. It has made a bunch of them. I will use it for my husband's birthday this weekend.

Hello Tipper from Ohio. I write down all of your recipes to make them at a later date. I have my very first strawberry 🍓 patch that I should get some berries from this year. And what a better way to try them out on. My hubby and I will be on vacation in your neck of the woods I believe. We will be in Cherokee NC, in June on our Harley to ride the Thunder in the Mountains, very exciting to ride in the mountains. We absolutely love the Appalachian mountains. We visit an Aunt in Ky, there's nothing like those mountains. They call out to my soul... God bless..

It looks wonderful! The tube pan that you used to cook this cake was my mother's before it was mine. She made many Pound Cakes in it.... actually a pound cake is the only cake she made. She didn't like cooking like I did and like you do, Tipper!

mom made a variation of this. she did use pound cake. she also used a layer of thickened cooked berries. sliced, cake, cooked, cream couple layers and topped with slices. Man it was good

I've made this and used Strawberries and Blueberries layers for Memorial Day n for 4th of July! I used my Mamas recipe for Sponge Cake and it's absolute wonderful. Also made with Pineapple n sprinkle with brown sugar between layers! You can do so many different fruits. I think I've done them with every kind of fruit I could. Fresh Peaches with sugar on them is absolute one of my favorites! Let them juice and pour juice over the cake and you'll really love it. I love to eat just the cake sometimes. It's so light and good! I know strawberry trifle is a traditional Christmas dessert in England, you soak the pound cake in sherry, and layer it, with a good homemade cold custard, strawberry jam loaded with strawberries and topped with whipped cream. I usually add grated a good chocolate bar over the top right before you serve it. I must try your recipe, it sounds delicious! Thank you for sharing it with us!

I grew up across the road from my dad's cousin's abandoned strawberry farm. She gave dad exclusive approval to pick. He and mom took care of the field and we picked every season for over a decade. I couldn't begin to estimate how many gallons of strawberries mom froze or jars of jam she made. She bought this non-electric handmixer attached to a container and us kids decided to take a bag of frozen strawberries, that we let thaw just a bit, add in some milk with a splash of cream, and took turns cranking. Whew boy that was the best ice cream ever! Problem was that everytime she left the house, we had to make it. It was probably a month later when she decided to make shortcake with dinner and discovered a ton of her strawberries were missing. Did we get a whoopin when we got off that school bus! (Truth be told, she was kind of a lightweight so that whoopin was well worth all the days of delicious ice cream!) 😁🍨😜

That looks super. I believe I'd go for an extra pint to pour a ladle over when it's served. My sister makes a Strawberry Pretzel Salad, it has a topping similar to what you made. If you've never had it you should look it up it's fairly common and so good. Good for a function dessert

I just planted a lot of strawberries /and tidied up the bed of my huge red ones that won't be ripe till august /your teasing my taste buds lololol, its so sweet your daughter getting starts from you /I have a few plants from my sensitive new friends /one brought me ferns that you can eat /another kept me company while i dug up a wild rose from her land/and the other friend let me dig up wild (edible burnet )to plant in my garden from his really long drive way/happy gardening to Cory with her mamas garden plants /plants from those you love are the best!

I make a punchbowl cake that is a little different from yours. I use one box of yellow cake mix, bake it according to the box, crumble it up, add a large box of instant vanilla pudding made the way the package says to, a large can of crushed pineapple, drained, three 10 oz. Pks of frozen strawberries. Layer all that and add a large tub of Cool Whip spread on top. It’s really good and a family favorite. I’m going to try yours. It sounds delicious. Might become a new family favorite.
