Nodus is near and dear to my heart, I personally know the owners and they live in my backyard. I respect what they’ve done for the microbrand world. Great video brother!

That comment was hilarious “most divers wear gloves” I can honestly say that in my 30 years as a diving instructor I’ve worn gloves about 5% of the time, I only take a dive watch as a back up to my dive computer and any depth limits beyond 100 meters is just over kill for all but 1% divers. After using several watches as backups, the Seiko has lived the longest. The problem with dive watches is, they are no longer used for diving, you don’t use the bezel when you go below 10 meters because you are measuring bottom time so the minute you go in you should set the watch and leave it until you get out. Most divers will set the watch a few minutes in advance and then enter the water, the watch won’t be touched in the water.

Interesting insights and shows how much diving I've done. A deep bath is about as far as I go 😂

Great review, thanks for doing it!! I feel for you on the crown thing. I have also made the mistake of forgetting to screw down the crown after winding and setting one of my watches in the morning. Halfway through my day at work I look down and was mortified to see the crown sticking out!! Thankfully, I did not get the watch wet but it did give me a huge wakeup call. I guess my point to telling you this is that it is always possible to get distracted and forget to secure it. It can happen to anyone and at any time. Thanks for sharing your experience as a warning so some and a reminder to others.

Looking forward to receiving my Sector Deep (Random Rob-Orange version). This will be my first Orange dialed watch and needed something other than black or blue. Owning the Blue 42mm Tudor Pelagos I think it will fit in (contrast) well with my other divers. But I have to admit this deep blue version is basically a home run. And yes I would probably have ordered it with a Sellita if given the chance. But I might change my mind after receiving and wearing it for awhile.

Good looking watch 👍 when thinking of another brand at that price point I'd consider Seiko first. It's surprising that you had that problem with water their are many brands that have a 100 mtr without a screw down crown. I very much appreciate your channel .

Great review and great watch! The hands and crown are definitely Seiko MM Tunaesque. Subscribed! 👍

I could say Helm Vanuatu as I own the beast and love it. I have to agree though that it’s really lovely. My mates just bought one so pardon my late arrival at your site. I have also subscribed!

Extra points: tons of features for an excellent price. The bracelet crushes. Overall build quality is excellent. Lume and bezel action are wonderful.

Love it! Wish they made a dial in a darker greenish black, but that blue dial will suffice. I live in Northern Ohio right on Lake Erie. I snorkel & dive every summer & am looking for a new diver. This 1 just might be it. I wish the dial was a dark green because it would match the color of Lake Erie which is more of a dark green than dark blue. But I have a few divers that have the NH35a movement & I can attest that the movement can absolutely take a beating! I’m betting that’s why Nodus chose that movement out of others due to its workhorse durability. This watch is definitely in my crosshairs. Just wish I could get a dark green dial instead of dark blue and I’d pull the trigger immediately in getting it. Thanks for the review!

Nice photography 👍. Well done for owning up about the crown, it is a useful reminder for us.

Thanks! 🙏 I mentioned the crown debacle to a contact at one of the big brands and he gave me a crumb of comfort by saying this is the single biggest reason watches come in for repair to their service centres

@@Escapement24 Interesting, I have to admit, I only take inexpensive watches near water now. I used to surf wearing a Datejust 25 years ago, but when I found out how much a new dial + service is 😮, I decided that is what G-Shocks are for 😁

I basically haven’t taken mine off since I got it. I actually like the NH35 movement. It’s no fuss, unpretentious and easy to have serviced. Ideal for a tool watch I don’t have to think much about.
@Escapement249 ай бұрын
That's all true - easy to service, repair or replace 👍 Have you got the blue or black version?

The answer is “yes” 😂. I love the design so much I have both.

An NH35 even if you leave the crown pulled out.. to have it completely replaced by a watchmaker it costs around 50/60 euros.. it's not a tragedy.. and this is why an NH35, in addition to being very precise if well adjusted, is also economical in terms of maintenance, and this is something that should not be underestimated. Overall it is a very nice watch, I noticed it does not have a helium escape valve despite being a 500m, it was probably designed so as not to need it as it was for other famous models of the late 60s and early 70s. and this one it is an added value to this model. 😀

$600 USD for a NH35 movement? I sincerely love everything about this watch,....except for the fact that it has a NH35 Seiko movement for $600. Please don't get me wrong, the NH35 is a good & trustworthy automatic movement and I own more than a few of them, but I just refuse to pay anything much north of $300 for a watch that has a mass produced, cheap, average accuracy/performance movement like the Seiko NH35 or even Miyota 8215 movement. There are high quality dive watches available with much more accurate Swiss automatic movements for less money, ie. MWC, Solar Aqua, even Invicta. I'm sorry but I think NODUS is seriously out of their depth.....pun intended, and they need check out what the competition is doing. Thanks for your review and I really do enjoy your work.
@Escapement247 ай бұрын
The movement is definitely the weak link in the specification chain here. On the one hand it's reliable, easy to service and easily replaced if it fails, but I do agree that at this price point it would be fair to expect a Miyota 9 series.
@mrgee0079 ай бұрын
I'm impressed with the regulation of the movement at +/_ 10 sec a day for an NH35. it would be too easy to kick it for being a homage to the watches you mention, but what do you do? take a unique design and hope people like it or choose great elements from great watches and create this? I think it's a lot of watch for the money and I think micro brands like these are gonna take a ton of money in sales away from Seiko. anyway, any chance of a review of the Farer cushion case small seconds, or the moon phase, what a watch. Anyway a great review Simon, and remember to screw ya brain in before your next hols 🤣🤣 only J/K!

Look so good that deserves a better movement. I’d gladly pay the difference. They also need to fix the bracelet, the first link doesn’t blend down nicely, I had a sector Marina and had the same bracelet problem.
