I was born in Brussels (in 1946). Lived there, studied there, worked there. I am living now in southern France as retired. Sometimes, I miss Brussels. It is a city full of surprises at each corner if you let your curiosity flying freely. It is impossible to describe and to "market" this city in 10 minutes. The best way to visit it is to know a local who was born in Brussels, to take the time to stay there for a while and to let you drive along in different areas. Anyway, this video gave me nice souvenirs of my city. Thank you/Bedankt/Merci

I love your report about Brussels. I’m Norwegian and I love your city, however I just need to say that the comment about ‘the finesse of French cuisine ‘ is an illusion. I’ve lived in France for five years and I discovered that so called French Gastronomie Is an over statement simply because people are conditioned and don’t dare to ask questions.. i was still living in France when the country woke up to the big scandal ( 2015) in the restaurant business.. so many ‘restaurants gastronomiques ‘ and star Michelin were caught using frozen or industrial food and serving them as ‘ de la cuisine artisanale ‘. The whole thing proved my point.. same goes for their patisseries… I prefer eating in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Thailand, Oslo, NYC, Beirut, Marrakech,Naples, Sicily, Bologna, India, London or Brussels .

Wow a boy's fountain is a Real European Brand nowadays. Anyway it's great to see a lot of beautifull old corners with such a devine art on the walls, a choclate is no longer a secret and such a sweet company with beer makes the evenings there really unforgetable for all addicted to earliests days of free Easter Isle American style.

Okay, we're going to Brussels and I didn't see hardly any small children in this whole video! I'm a little worried! I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old... Are breweries and lots of these places kid friendly? Or did I choose a bad destination for a family. 😬

You didin’t see because is no nearly kids there. And people now how dangerous is there… I was in Brussels in August with my family. For your safety and your children don’t go there or go alone first…

@@justynaalicja6692 I am now living in Brussels for over a month and have been to Brussels almost weekly for about 3 years and I can tell you that that's a bit of an exaggeration. Brussels is fairly safe and there are a lot of police everywhere in every part of the city. There aren't gangs walking around in the streets (well, my friends who have lived in bxl for their whole lives and me have never seen any 'gangs' in the streets). You just have to be careful for pickpockets and don't walk around as a girl at night if it is not the city-center. There can be perverts at night but in Bruxelles-central it is pretty safe.

Is not true what you said . Is The most dangerous city in Europe . I was in Amsterdam, Paris, London etc and even Russia and Brussels is the most dangerous city. I was in old town , Atomium. Just read comments on website World Nomands Crime in Belgium about the Brussels and down on the page are many comments , same you can read on police website… nearly no Kids I was with my son and everyone looked at us . Cos is not kids there… and every 3 minutes people ask about money… OMG rubbish everywhere… rats. do you know that in rest in Europe women can walk normally day, evening , night that mean is normal and safe you can have your phone, your jewellery…

Those places are places more to meet tourists and European bureaucrats, than actual Belgians... If you want to connect to the actual city, you'd rather go around "place Flagey", the university, the sunday-morning market "aux abattoires de Bruxelles", taste the beers at the "moeder lambik" instead ... Belgians takes a bit of time to meet: you need to become a regular of the same place. But you won't end up with such a made-up picture of the city (witch explained so many wrong decision at the EU).

Brussels is a terrible city to live in and a very average one to visit. People are incredibly uninteresting and woke, income tax is through the roof, the weather is disgusting, the activities are boring and unless you really get off on drinking beer and eating fries there is really nothing to do. Architecture is inconsistent with some buildings looking absolutely phenomenal but being placed right next to the ugliest most east-block looking pieces of shit. Criminality is also high, no woman in her right mind would feel safe walking anywhere in Brussels at night. Last but not least Belgian cuisine is absolutely terrible, you can fact check that on any website.

She forgot “Crème Fraîche” filling and the “Manon” typically belgian chocolate, “Butter Cream “ filling, Liquor filling. I don’t think she’s a real expert in chocolate by resuming chocolate in “ Ganache and Praliné “

It would be great to discover that some time in Brussels, too. Ya veremos cuando llegaré a conocer la ciudad. Desde luego, me encanta su multiculturalidad como capital europea. Dona la impresió que es puga trobar gent de totes les llengues i cultures del mon en el lloc.

Going by the performance of the Brussels Mayor and the banning of a Conservative meeting, the best thing to do with Brussels is leave and not support or become part of their communist regime.

The part where he says Brussels offers "the best of french cuisine mixed with other stuff" just isn't true in my experience, especially when it comes to baking. Average belgian bakeries are truly awful compared to french ones. As an example, a belgian "flan" is the most foul creation i've ever tasted. Don't even get me started on their mille-feuilles. You can even notice it in Paul bakeries, which is a notoriously bad brand. Pauls in france STILL taste way better. And for the love of god, avoid the tourist honeypots with their low quality food and ridiculously overpriced menus. If it's marketed for you guys, it's bad. PS. You could however try finding some tartes al djote, a fairly unique recipe from Nivelles :)

WHY ON EARTH even mention the german cuisine ?? just because of the portions, really ??? Brussels food is primarly belgian, french, italian, NOT german, you seem to think that french restaurants serve smaller portions ?? that is so cliché, maybe in Paris, not anywhere else, i have never heard anyone using german cuisine as an example, not even for quantities, and that, again, is also a cliché !, german cuisine can also be refined, and served in small portions., when in brussels i would recommend to eat 20% belgian food, 70% italian, 10% the rest

Good video! Thanks to the author of the channel for this fascinating video! It is interesting to see how people live in other countries! It is very important to know foreign languages on such trips. I would like to recommend to all travelers a practical guide to learning foreign languages by Yuriy Ivantsiv "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages". This book contains a lot of useful tips on how to learn a foreign language for tourists, students, entrepreneurs and anyone who needs a foreign language in life. There are a lot of good tips on how to solve problems with the language from beginner to advanced level of language learning. It turns out that the traveler only needs to know a few dialogues and you can easily travel around the world! You don't have to spend a lot of time to fully learn a foreign language, you just need to learn what you can use when you travel. I wish everyone exciting travels!
