Fun fact: the male trap survivor from saw 5, malick, is played by Greg Bryk who would go on to play Joseph Seed, the main villain of Far Cry 5 ironically enough.

@@theduckgoesmoo That was the only way 2 people could walk out at that point, without bleeding out from like both arms. If they were psychotic-as morbid as what I’m about to suggest is-they probably could’ve taken the first victim’s body before leaving the first room, and carried it with them through all the others, (or at least to the 3rd room with the electric wires), and then in the 5th room, pushed her remains into two of the holes, that way both of them would’ve had to give less of their own blood. The former would be better, since then Luba would still be alive, and they’d have to cut their arms less with 3 people. But with 2 people left, there was no other way to get 10 pints of blood between them without ensuring one’s death. Hell, even both of them surviving from this, probably only comes from both of them being in relatively good health. Had it been someone sickly (since Kramer does put people with health conditions in traps), I think even giving 2-3 few pints would’ve killed them.

So they don't go over it much in Dead meat, but Hoffman was making unwinnable traps. That is why the people kept dying despite doing something like getting his hands crushed in the opening and the blade doesn't stop. Hoffman wanted to torture and kill people. Whereas John Kramer (aka old man jigsaw) wanted to give people a fighting chance. If they survive the horror of the game he assumes they would lead stronger and better lives. I can't wait until the next set. Saw 3D is in my opinion the best in the series.

"Killing is distasteful!" Okay, ignoring how John throws people in death traps, making him responsible for their deaths, a number of his traps involve killing someone else in order to survive.

Was about to comment the same thing. Like the shotgun carousel...were those 6 people being tested as well? Kinda seems like your "fight to show your will to live" mantra is BS if 4 people are sealed to death with no ability other than convincing some other schmoe to use his one of two safeties, even if that involves lying and being as horrible a shit-slinger to the others as possible.

Do people actually like his ideology?
@Mrryn
@Mrryn 5 күн бұрын
@@theduckgoesmoo I'm sure someone somewhere does, but I imagine most people just find it interesting as a villain philosophy - he is a man, who suffered, and is now twisted and enacting his own deranged vengeance under the guise of "saving" people. The issue is that the movies themselves seem to take this stand that no but actually, Jigsaw *isn't* a killer and his philosophy is sound and sane, just brutal and abused by people like Hoffman. Even when in Saw 6, you see these scenarios designed by John Kramer himself that guarantee the deaths of people who aren't even being "tested," all for the sake of screwing with one guy who wronged him. So even his "force people to find the will to live" is BS, but still treated by the overarching message of the films as just.

@@Mrryn The only person who actually agreed with the “technically he’s not a murderer” thing was Dr Gordon The first movie does seem to treat it as fact but the 2nd and third question the fuck out of it and every movie after that had no need to bring it up at all because Hoffman, Logan and whoever else were all deviating from the original idea to the point of irrelevancy.
@Mrryn
@Mrryn 5 күн бұрын
@@sdm47 Except those movies after, by putting people like Hoffman at the forefront, are doing so purposefully juxtaposing them to Kramer and hammering home Kramer's characterization (especially in the immediate sequels because that's where he blows up about killing being distasteful) as him being "the true one" compared to the "killers" like Hoffman. This being in terms of the meta-narrative, the story message for the audience to take home - Jigsaw had it right, and that's why he's here judging these fakers besmirching his name and still "testing" people even beyond his death, like the healthcare marathon in Saw 6. Especially when, even in the "in-universe" story, it isn't just the doc who comes around considering he also has accomplices who are also clearly in line with that thinking.

You gotta admit that these saw traps are not only real gruesome and painful but yet they are so clever and intricate. It’s like the type of stuff where you wanna look away but you can’t at the same time. Plus with saw testing multiple people that gotta test people to survive, it’s like a big spiderweb.

The trap where they cut their hands with the buzzsaw actually could kill them. The goal was to fill the thing with 5 quarts of blood which is how much blood is in a human body meaning one person could give all their blood or each of them could give half their blood but they risk death still from blood loss.
@milanbeerepoot4260

The trap was designed with all of them surviving in mind. If all 5 trap plot people were to make it there, each person would only have to give 1/5 of their blood

Dave is played by Darius McCrary who played Eddie Winslow in the '90s sitcom Family Matters which also(mostly) starred Jaleel White as Steve Urkel. At one point in the series Steve invents a formula that transforms him from the super nerdy Steve Urkel into the super suave Stefan Urquelle. That's the reference/joke that James is making at 24:33.

I hate that first trap. They had so many things in that room, from the metal scrap from the chain to the cutting tools themselves that they could have thrown onto the scales and the scales had no way to tell the difference. The helmet had lether straps that could be cut and wires that could be severed to kill the motor.

See, the series of traps there, I get and it actually fits well to Kramer's philosophy - you can figure out a way for everyone to make it if you consider the options. The trap marathon for 6 irks me because every single one except for the steam maze and the final test forces someone to die. And those people have literally no way to fight and enforce their "will to live" to save themselves and, even if they do, someone will still die. Saw 5 shows pretty decent care to Jigsaw doing something that tracks with his character. Saw 6 almost looks like some of Hoffman and Amanda's unwinnable traps in how they just cut a swathe through (relatively) innocent people and is what drives home how BS Kramer actually is with his "never killed anyone," disdain for killers crap. John sets up guaranteed fatalities *specifically* to torture a man who wronged him.
