The best value magazine extension for glock 42 - super cheap! Super reliable. Pearce PG42 plus one

My every day carry is a Glock 42 with Trijicon HD XR Night Sights and a 9 round ETS magazine fitted with an XGRIP for a full three-finger grip. I load the magazine with 8 rounds maximum, plus one in the chamber, to ensure 100% reliability. Ammo of choice is Underwood Extreme Penetrator 380+P. This combination has very little recoil, is very controllable and EXTREMELY accurate! I carry it 24/7 in a pocket holster and honestly it's so light and compact that I forget it's there. The best self-defense pistol is the one you never leave home without!

Love my g42 and 43. For myself I went with the taran tactical +1's on both and good to go. I've seem some great reviews on the pearce extensions I just found taran first. Great vid

Definitely, the taran tactical ones are good to go and the highest quality I've seen. The only problem is i like to have the same extension on all my mags, and I can't drop that kind of dough! I have way too many G42 mags.

The Mag Guts follower and spring kit will work with the Pearce Grips plus one extension. I have two mags using both giving me 8 rounds per mag plus one in the chamber. I’ve fired hundreds of rounds through them with no malfunctions. The Mag Guts are a bit pricey, though.

Adjust the retention a bit. It should click in but come out without a ton of force.

My regular EDC is the Glock 42, with over 3,000 rounds in past 2 years. I installed MagGuts spring/follower in my Glock 42 magazine, giving it 7 rounds in the same space, yielding 7 +1. Zero issues; I highly recommend MagGuts. For pocket carry, I use the Sticky holster. For my spare mag, I use Strike Industries EMP +2, which gives 8 rounds. Again zero issues. Recently I installed the Vickers Tactical slide stop, making it easier to manipulate. Otherwise, my 42 is factory standard. The key to using 380 for professional defense is the right ammo, which, for me, is either Fiocchi Extrema XPT or Hornady XPT; actually any XPT round works great. magguts.com/product/glock-42/

These Pearce mag +1 extensions don’t work to feed the very last round into the Glock 43 9mm when loaded with heavy 147gr bullets. I don’t know why, but it’s unreliable. When shooting the lighter weight bullets of 115 or 124 gr 9mm, then the last round will feed. I removed all of my extensions and put back the factory base plates on my 43 because of reliability issues. I’m curious as to how these +1’s do on the Glock 42 model with the heavier .380 bullets like the HST 99gr or the Remington 102gr Golden Saber round. I just buy the Glock factory mags that come with their +0 pinky extension. 6+1 and a few spares mags in the pants pockets works for me.

You can buy an increased lower spring but I haven’t seen it to be necessary with the plus one magazines

Take the follower out and use a Dremel tool or sandpaper or a side grinder grind the follower down and easily fit seven rounds in a stock magazine

I have a factory Glock pinky extension and hate it as it’s just long enough that it prints on my pocket holster badly and even with IWB. I only carry it as my spare now, and carry the flush mag which does not print, and feels/shoots fine.

I put a pierce+1 finger extension on one of my Glock 42 mags. The 7th round is insanely difficult to put into magazine and when i have one in the chamber and 7 rounds in the magazine it will shoot and it will not eject the first round or it will eject it but not chamber the next round. I tried about 8 different times and would not work. So I just left it as 6 in the mag and one in the chamber now and that works fine. Too bad it didn’t work for me.

I haven’t. I tried a bunch of their products close to a decade ago and they were very unreliable. I’ve since heard they are way better now, I’ll have to try some!

Strike industries makes the best 8 round mag extensions and its an easy mag plate only swap out and the texture on it is identical to the oem 42 grip. And they work flawlessly, I have several hundred rounds through mine and no issues. U R the first person I've heard that had problems with the Strike Industries. Pearce are nice too if u only want 7 rounds.

Hard to find, and Glock never gave us increased capacity like they did on the double stacks. It’s hard to go away from OEM though, I understand that dilemma

There was absolutely no reliability issues with 7 rds in the magazine and one in the chamber? I have the Glock 42 and would like the extra rd but not at the expense of reliability. Good video by the way.
